In the second game of the night, we'll see a familiar matchup between two titans in the Western Conference when the Los Angeles Lakers begin their 2024-25 season at home against the title-hopeful Minnesota Timberwolves.
Can we learn anything from the previous matchups between these two, or dare I say the preseason, to find the right combination for an NBA parlay tonight?
Let's build a same-game parlay for Timberwolves vs Lakers on Opening Night in the NBA this October 22nd.

Anthony Davis remained a scoring threat in 2023-24, pouring in 24.7 points per game after going for 25.9 on average the year prior, and now he'll step into a familiar matchup against Rudy Gobert.
Davis, of course, could get injured on any given night, but assuming he plays his normal complement of minutes I expect yet another solid showing.
As LeBron James has aged and the Lakers have cycled through several scoring options on the wings, Davis has become incredibly important to keeping this team afloat.
Davis has gone for 25 or more points in seven of his last 10 season-opening games and shouldn't be fazed by the presence of Gobert, who led an excellent rim defense a season ago.
It can be dangerous to read into anything we see in the preseason, but Anthony Edwards' three games certainly jumped off the page.
The superstar wing attempted an insane 29 shots from 3-point range in his last two games, and while he made eight against the Knicks and just three against the Bulls, it would appear Minnesota will attempt to get even more out of the ever-improving former No. 1 pick.
The Lakers had a myriad of issues defending the perimeter last season, ranking 24th in the league in defending the 3 according to Cleaning the Glass, and that should set Edwards up for a big night shooting the ball if this new-found volume is to be believed.
Finally, to complete this NBA same game parlay picks for today, we'll dig into the trends a bit here and shoot for an Under on one of the Lakers' go-to men on the wings.
In his five playoff games, Reaves would finish over 4.5 assists just once, averaging 3.6 per game, and that seemed to be directly correlated to an increase in Usage and minutes for Russell.
The veteran guard finished the season playing over 35 minutes per game in the second half, and with the On/Off splits we can't expect Reaves to pass the ball quite as much if this team leans on Russell for most of the game.
Reaves will also have to deal with the defense of Edwards and a complete Timberwolves unit, and that seemed to be a tough task last year as he finished with just 2.8 assists on average in four games against Minnesota and an abysmal 38.5% field goal percentage which marked his worst and second-worst matchup, respectively.
I'm expecting L.A. to get the ball into the hands of Rui Hachimura a ton in this one and potentially rookie Dalton Knecht or the lengthy Max Christie. Reaves will have plenty of moments this season, but I'm not sure Opening Night will be one.
