NBA Summer League Predictions Spurs vs Hawks on July 14

• The NBA 2K25 Summer League kicks off this week with the 2024 rookie class and top prospects battling it out for the Summer League Championship.

This is where players may not have been lottery picks or even picked at all to showcase their skills for their team to obtain a roster spot in the upcoming 2024/2025 NBA season. Let's kick things off with a matchup between the San Antonio Spurs and the Atlanta Hawks.

With that said, we take a look at this NBA 2K25 Summer League matchup to make a Spurs-Hawks prediction and pick.

San Antonio Spurs NBA Summer League Team Analysis

San Antonio Spurs (1-0) will be coming into their fifth game this summer after competing in the California Classic where they ended with just a 1-2 record. However, they started the NBA 2K25 Summer League in Las Vegas, NV off strong with an 83-77 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Spurs will be without the vast majority of their core young players from their summer league lineup but they will have the No. 4 overall pick in the NBA draft who got off to a good start against the Trail Blazers

• Stephon Castle finished his first game of NBA 2K25 Summer League action with 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.

The Spurs did have a second first-round draft pick in Rob Dillingham. Eventually, they traded him to the Minnesota Timberwolves for more future draft picks which shows the Spurs are still looking toward their future even after the upcoming season.

Stephon Castle wasn't the only player who had a good start to the 2K25 Summer League against the Trail Blazers.

• Nathan Mensah who started at Center for the Spurs played just 14 minutes but had 12 points to go along with 10 rebounds in limited action.
• Jamaree Bouyea scored 11 points with 6 assists, 4 steals, and 4 blocks in 29 minutes of action.

While the Spurs may not be star-studded when it comes to their summer league squad as they did last year, they still have the players to continue their ways at the NBA 2K25 Summer League.

Atlanta Hawks NBA Summer League Team Analysis

Atlanta Hawks (0-1) come into this summer league with a ton of intrigue with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 draft Zaccharie Risacher. There's a ton of hype surrounding this young player who played over in France.

• While many have said this has been one of the weakest draft classes in recent memory, Risacher is looking to prove those doubters wrong.

Risacher is a great three-and-D wing player who usually translates quite well to the NBA but that's not all he's got good playmaking abilities and he showcased that in his first summer league action against the Washington Wizards.

• Risacher ended his first game of summer league action with 18 points and 5 rebounds while shooting 44% from the floor and 33% from 3-point range

The Hawks had a great all-around effort from their supporting cast in their loss to the Wizards.

• Forward Mouhamed Gueye contributed 17 points and 4 rebounds in 27 minutes.
• Forward Dylan Windler was close to a double-double with 12 points and 8 rebounds on 40% shooting from the floor and 44% from 3-point range.

Should be an intriguing matchup, one that the Hawks could run away with if they can get their shots going early against a very inexperienced San Antonio Spurs squad.

The San Antonio Spurs should have a leg up in the NBA 2K25 Summer League opener when it comes to their youth and the higher-level talent. They have Stephon Castle who will take over the court in this Sunday summer league matchup.

With the little talent that the Hawks have aside from Risacher coming into this game, it'll be tough for them to overcome as the Spurs just edge this one out in a closely contested matchup.
