NCAA Women’s Basketball Best Bets (March 7): Big Ten, SEC Conference Tournament Semifinals Odds & Predictions

Publish Date: Mar 07, 2026
Fact checked by: Matt Moreno
Key Points
  • South Carolina has not lost an SEC Tournament matchup since losing the 2022 championship game to Kentucky.
  • Iowa leads the all-time series vs. Michigan, 30-17; the Hawkeyes have won the last six games.
  • Texas leads the all-time series vs. Ole Miss, 9-1; the Rebels' lone win was on December 12, 1988.

Typically, Saturdays feature more competitive men’s NCAA basketball games than women’s, but not this week. With many of the women’s conference tournaments moving into the semifinals stage, several of the best teams in the country are scheduled to play today.

NCAA Women's Basketball Best Bets: No. 3 South Carolina Gamecocks vs. No. 6 LSU Tigers Odds & Prediction

  • Spread: LSU +5.5 at -110 | South Carolina -5.5 at -110
  • Moneyline: LSU+195 | South Carolina -238
  • TOTAL: O/U 153.5 at (-110/-110)

Odds via DraftKings

LSU will come into this game feeling pretty good. It ended the regular season on a four-game winning streak after losing to South Carolina, 79-72, on Valentine’s Day. The Tigers opened tournament play in the quarterfinals vs. Oklahoma, dominating the Sooners 112-78.

Of course, it is one thing to dominate the Sooners in the paint, on fast breaks, beat them on the boards, and hit 13 of 24 3-pointers, and another to do anything close to that against South Carolina. The Tigers will undoubtedly lean on their No. 1-ranked in the nation scoring offense (95 points per game) to lead the way.

In the loss to South Carolina, LSU tied with the Gamecocks for points in the paint (38), had more fast break points (13 to 11), and won the rebound battle. However, the Tigers struggled to penetrate South Carolina’s perimeter defense and went 2-12 from behind the 3-point line.

The Gamecocks went 8 for 17 from 3-point range with Tessa Johnson going 4 for 5 and Raven Johnson hitting 3 of 5.

My Pick: South Carolina -5.5

  • LSU leads the conference in 3-point percentage and ranks No. 4 in the country (38.4%). So, it will need to hit its threes if it is going to have a shot at an upset. However, South Carolina has the second-best percentage, but opponents have also struggled to hit threes against it. LSU is a good team, but as we saw in the regular season, South Carolina is better. That will be true today as well.

NCAA Women's Basketball Best Bets: No. 8 Michigan Wolverines vs. No. 9 Iowa Hawkeyes Odds & Prediction

  • Spread: Michigan -3.5 at -110 | Iowa +3.5 at -110
  • Moneyline: Michigan -175 | Iowa +145
  • TOTAL: O/U 147.5 at (-110/-110)

Odds via DraftKings

This game may be one of the more intriguing matchups of the day. They come in with identical records (22-5, 13-3 Big Ten). Statistically, Michigan has the better offense (85 points per game, No. 5 in the country) compared to Iowa (78.5 points per game, No. 22 in the country). But just a couple of weeks ago, the Hawkeyes clobbered the Wolverines, 62-44.

Ava Heiden, who is one of the best shooters in the country, led the way for Iowa with a double-double, 24 points and 10 rebounds. While Michigan’s offense ranked fifth in the nation, the Hawkeyes’ defense held them to 30.5% from the field. The Wolverines also committed 24 turnovers in that game.

Both teams went 3-0 after that game, with Michigan beating a pair of ranked teams, No. 13 Ohio State (88-86) and No. 14 Maryland (87-69). Iowa took down Illinois twice and dominated Wisconsin.

My Pick: Iowa +3.5

  • Neither team has an excellent defense, so I’m not sure how much Michigan’s shooting woes in the earlier matchup can be attributed to Iowa over just having a bad night. Iowa, however, has a better effective field goal percentage (55.5% to 52.5%), which gives me more hope for the Hawkeyes in a close game. Unlike the earlier matchup, this one will be close. In a close game, I’m taking the better shooters.

NCAA Women's Basketball Best Bets: No. 4 Texas Longhorns vs. No. 24 Ole Miss Rebels Odds & Prediction

  • Spread: Ole Miss +17.5 at -114 | Texas -17.5 at -114
  • Moneyline: Ole Miss OFF | Texas  OFF
  • TOTAL: O/U 135.5 at (-114/-114)

Odds via FanDuel

With a spread like that, surely this game is a walk-in-the-park for Texas, right? Eh… Ole Miss gave the Longhorns a good scare in their regular-season matchup. Texas was able to pull it out in the end, 67-64, but it was a 19.5-point home favorite in that game.

So, that game was in Austin, Ole Miss almost won, but is still a massive underdog on neutral ground? Ole Miss didn’t exactly do well in conference play. Yes, it got some solid wins against No. 5 Vanderbilt and No. 21 Tennessee. But they Rebels went 4-6 in their last 10 games.

However, they beat No. 5 Vanderbilt in the SEC Tournament Quarterfinal, 89-78.

My Pick: Ole Miss +17.5

  • I get it. Maybe the first matchup was just a fluke; a combination of things going right for Ole Miss and wrong for Texas all at once. Or maybe Ole Miss is a better team than it is getting credit for. The Longhorns should win this game, but don’t count on them to cover.
