The Brooklyn Nets are coming off a double-digit loss to the Los Angeles Lakers at home yesterday as they head out on their road trip in this back-to-back when they take on the Indiana Pacers in this Monday night showdown. We take a look at this matchup to make a Nets-Pacers prediction and pick.

Brooklyn Nets (29-46) are now at a lost season sitting in 11th place in the Eastern Conference and are way too far gone for a spot in the play-in tournament.

However, after six straight losses, the Nets were able to get themselves back on track winning three out of their next four games. In their most recent outing on Sunday, they lost a hard-fought game against the streaking Los Angeles Lakers.

For the Nets the lone bright spot that came out of that Lakers loss was the 30-point performance from Cam Thomas but there was a lot to desire from the rest of the team rest of the team as no one stepped up to get the job done. Thomas is going to need some more help if they are going to want to score the upset in this road trip to Indiana when they take on the Pacers this Monday night.

Indiana Pacers (42-34) host the Portland Trail Blazers, aiming to keep their recent momentum going after they dominated the Los Angeles Lakers beating them 109-90 covering the -3.5-point spread with relative ease. They took it to the Grizzlies as a collective group with six players scoring in double digits.

The Pacers are looking to continue this momentum as we head toward the playoff stretch. They will be looking to continue their dominance and their momentum when they play host to the Brooklyn Nets in tonight's matchup at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

WHY BROOKLYN NETS WILL COVER THE SPREAD

The Brooklyn Nets don't have much to play for the rest of the season. They are 5.5 games out of the last play-in seed behind the Atlanta Hawks and they would need a miracle with just seven games left in the season to overtake that 10th and final spot.

While the Nets haven't been as bad as other teams in the NBA this season, their six-game stretch where they lost all six in a row was their downfall to losing out on that last spot in the play-in tournament. The Nets however had a three-game stretch where it looked like they could make one last final playoff push but those hopes went down the drain with their most recent loss to the Lakers.

Even though the Nets may not have much to play for, they still don't go down without a fight. Cam Thomas has been playing great basketball this season and will be able to put up 25+ in this high-paced game with the Pacers to keep them competitive.

So, if players like Mikal Bridges, Nic Claxton, and Dennis Schroder can give him some much-needed help they can certainly play spoiler in this spot covering the spread on the road.

WHY INDIANA PACERS WILL COVER THE SPREAD

The Indiana Pacers were looking like a team to watch out for as they make their playoff push and then they've been hit with some inconsistency. However, they've been able to get back on track in their most recent routing of the Los Angeles Lakers who they beat by 19 points back on Friday. The Pacers continue their home stand as they play host to the Brooklyn Nets this Monday night.

The Pacers were able to take it to the Los Angeles Clippers in one of the six games they won in their last 10 beating them 133-116. In that game, the three-headed monster that is Tyrese Haliburton, Myles Turner, and Pascal Siakam combined for 76 points.

When those three are on at the same time it's almost impossible for teams to compete especially a depleted Brooklyn Nets squad. This Pacers squad is a sneaky team to watch in this year's NBA playoffs and their road to the playoffs continues tonight when the Brooklyn Nets come to town in this Monday night matchup.

The Brooklyn Nets have some uphill sledding ahead of them against this stacked Indiana Pacers squad. While the Magic are just 6-4 in their last 10 games they are also 6-4 ATS as well meanwhile, the Nets are just 3-7 in their last 10 and 3-7 ATS in those 10 games.

While it isn't for the faint at heart to lay 12.5 points, but against this Nets squad who have already been beaten back in March by this same Pacers team 121-100 leads me to believe siding with the home team is the way to go in this particular matchup.

Expect Haliburton, Siakam, Turner, and this Pacers team to be too much for this young Brooklyn Nets team as their high pace and high temp helps them cover this lofty spread with ease in tonight's matchup.
