Drake Maye and the New England Patriots (0-0) will face Sam Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks (0-0) tonight. The Seahawks were dominant all last season, defeating the Patriots 29-13 to win their second Super Bowl since the Russell Wilson era. While both weren't favored heading into the season, both the Patriots and Seahawks finished atop their respective conferences with a 14-3 record.
Both teams retained their respective coaches, as Mike Vrabel will remain the head coach of the Patriots, while Mike Macdonald remains at the helm in Seattle. Under offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, Maye was firmly in the MVP conversation, delivering career numbers. In 17 regular season games, he put up 4,394 passing yards, 31 passing touchdowns, 450 rushing yards with a 113.5 passer rating.
Maye received a boost in the receiving corps as the Patriots acquired star receiver A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles. While Stefon Diggs departed for the Washington Commanders, New England opens this season with Brown, Romeo Doubs, and DeMario Douglas as the top three wideouts. Tonight, running back Rhamondre Stevenson will retain RB1 duties with TreVeyon Henderson listed out.
In fact, the Patriots tallied the third-most touchdowns last season with 58. 31 of those were passing from Maye.
Not only are 16 NFL games on the schedule over the six days from Wednesday to Monday, but you'll also have a chance to find football betting offers from the top NFL sportsbooks.
Sam Darnold finally found a home in Seattle after stints with the New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers, and Minnesota Vikings. Going from being drafted as the No. 3 overall pick and starter to backup quarterback, Darnold is the ultimate success story. After betting on himself in Minnesota, he's now the franchise face of the Seahawks.
In his first season in Seattle, Darnold was additionally in the NFL MVP conversation after putting up 4,048 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, and a 99.1 passer rating. Just as Darnold arrived in the Emerald City, star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba broke out for 1,793 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Honored as the 2025-26 NFL Offensive Player of the Year, Smith-Njigba led the entire NFL in receiving yards.
With Brian Fleury hired as offensive coordinator, the Seahawks retain the receiving corps of Smith-Njigba, Rasheed Shaheed (a downfield threat), Cooper Kupp, Tory Horton, and tight end AJ Barner. Last year, this is a team that produced the eighth-most touchdowns in a season with 51 and 28.4 points per game. The running game will look vastly different as Jadarian Price and George Holani will look to replace the departing Kenneth Walker III and injured Zach Charbonnet.
Both the Patriots (28.8 PPG) and Seahawks (28.4 PPG) averaged the second- and third-most points in the NFL last season. Together, both teams combined for 12,809 yards of offense.
Additionally, the Patriots bolstered their offensive line this offseason by adding and drafting Alijah Vera-Tucker and Caleb Lomu. On the flip side, the Seahawks' o-line consisting of Grey Zabel, Charles Cross and more will return.
Both defenses are solid, and Seattle arguably boasted the No. 1 defense in the NFL last season. As we saw, the Patriots scored just 13 points in the Super Bowl. While Drake Maye threw for 295 passing yards and two touchdowns to Mack Hollins and Rhamondre Stevenson, it was a lackluster performance offensively.
Conversely, the Seahawks scored 29 points and Darnold delivered 202 passing yards and one touchdown to AJ Barner. The remainder of the points were produced from five field goals and an interception pick-six. It's important to note that neither team scored a rushing touchdown and Seattle retained possession for a majority of the game. In total, three touchdowns were scored between the two squads.
If you're betting on the NFL today, welcome! The Patriots and Seahawks will kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET at Lumen Field, and will air on NBC. Let's take a look at my three best anytime touchdown bets for popular running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends. You can find all of my bets within Fanatics and FanDuel Sportsbook. Given touchdown scorer bets can be risky, always bet responsibly.
My first bet on Wednesday includes Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson to score a touchdown. You can find this prop bet best priced for +110 odds on FanDuel, where a $50 wager would return $105. Tonight, Stevenson has 47.6% implied odds to score a touchdown.
Second-year running back TreVeyon Henderson has been ruled out with an ankle, giving Stevenson the path to carry the workload. He was already the lead back, but should see an increase in carries tonight.
We know the Patriots were one of the top rushing teams last year, compiling 2,191 rushing yards, 128.9 rushing yards per game, and 22 rushing touchdowns. While limited to 14 games, Stevenson recorded a respectable stat line of 603 rushing yards, 345 receiving yards, 7 rushing touchdowns and 2 receiving touchdowns. I would say 9 touchdowns in 14 games is a solid number.
Stevenson is a strong back at 6 feet, 227 pounds. And we know he runs through defenses and is a goal-line back. While he's a short route-type player, Stevenson is a force in the backfield. So in this case, I like him that much more here, given that he's able to operate out of the backfield in a variety of ways, especially in the pass game.
Last year, just 29.2% of Stevenson's rushes came inside the 20-yard line, but 43.5% of rushes came inside the 5-yard line. Recording 5 touchdowns inside the 20, Stevenson boasted a 100% catch rate inside the end zone. That said, the first four weeks of 2025 were uneventful—Stevenson was held scoreless. However, we saw him score two touchdowns against the Buffalo Bills, and finished out the season with four touchdowns in the last three weeks against the Ravens, Jets, and Dolphins. Over that span, he tallied 6 rushing and receiving touchdowns.
In fact, Stevenson ended up with 130 carries last year, which equated to 9.3 carries per game. Mind you, that was alongside Henderson. While his snap count decreased the final two games of the season, he played 63% of snaps in Super Bowl LX and averaged 59% of snaps. With Henderson out and Myles Montgomery on IR, that leaves Corey Kiner. Yeah, Stevenson should be the workhorse tonight. We know this given the fact that he increased his carries up to 25 and 16 against the Broncos and Texans during last year's playoff run.
We know that a majority of the Seahawks defense is returning from last season. While it's not quite the "Legion of Boom," this defense was suffocating last year. In fact, the defense gave up just 9 rushing touchdowns and 91.9 rushing yards per game!
We know that Leonard Williams and Byron Murphy II are at the head of Seattle's line, along with linebackers Ernest Jones and Drake Thomas. Scoring a touchdown won't be easy by any means, but Stevenson showed out for just 23 yards but scored a 7-yard receiving touchdown in the Super Bowl. Although Seattle had a vastly different defense, Stevenson also scored a touchdown at the goal line against Seattle in 2024. He additionally rushed for 81 rushing yards and had six red zone carries.
My second-best bet is for Patriots receiver Romeo Doubs to score a touchdown tonight. This player prop bet is best priced at Fanatics, where a $50 wager would return $207.50. Tonight, Doubs has 24.1% implied odds to score a touchdown against the Seahawks.
Doubs joined the Patriots in the offseason on a 4-year, $68 million deal and joins a crowded receiver room that includes A.J. Brown, DeMario Douglas, and Mack Hollins. That said, Doubs is listed as the starting WR2 across from Brown.
Regardless of the Patriots' ease of schedule last season, this is an offense that put up 379.4 yards per game under offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. And while McDaniels left prior, he's back for his third stint and 15th year with the Patriots. It's safe to say we know what kind of offense McDaniels will be producing.
Doubs' tenure with the Green Bay Packers has come to an end, but he's consistently produced 600+ receiving yards over the last three seasons. That said, he's compiled 21 touchdowns, including 8 in 2023 and 6 in 2025. He heads to Foxborough as the primary outside receiver who can absolutely play the slot. In fact, we've seen him play plenty of slant-type routes in Green Bay.
Mind you, he put up these numbers among a crowded receiving group in Green Bay. I'm expecting more volume for him this year as he averaged near a 78% snap share last year. While he failed to put up 1,000+ receiving yards, Doubs hauled in 67.2 air yards per game and 18.5% of team targets.
Plus, the matchup should line up with either Devon Witherspoon or Josh Jobe. But more or less, it should be Witherspoon who covers Brown.
Brown is the most talked about receiver, but Doubs cracked the top-20 in red zone touchdowns (5) last season, and received a 26.2% target share inside the 20-yard line. While his catch percentage could have improved, he totaled 10 red zone receptions in 2025-26.
This may be a long shot, but I cashed out on Seahawks tight end AJ Barner in the Super Bowl, as he scored a touchdown. Tonight, we are going for it again. It's risky, as a $50 wager could potentially pay out $205. Therefore, Barner has 24.5% implied odds of scoring tonight.
Seattle should feature a two-tight end set including Barner and Elijah Arroyo. Barner is listed as the Seahawks' TE1. Barner had a decent second season in Seattle, totaling 519 receiving yards and 6 receiving touchdowns. Even among a talented and crowded receiving corps, Barner tallied the second-most touchdowns on the team.
Barner already has chemistry with Darnold, and he ranked No. 4 in red zone targets (13) and boasted a 76.9% catch rate inside the 20-yard line last season. The yardage may not be all that impressive, but Barner caught 3 touchdowns inside the 10 alone. He's a real red zone threat and he faces a Patriots defense that gave up 54 yards, one touchdown, four receptions, and one red zone target to Barner in the Super Bowl.
Overall, New England was strong against tight ends last year, except when they gave up two touchdowns to Dawson Knox. Generally speaking, that left side of that defensive line is weaker, starting with Christian Barmore and Elijah Ponder. Plus a double tight end lineup gives Arroyo more likely to get blocking responsibilities and more receiving opportunities for Barner.
