The 2026-27 NFL season is here, and last night featured a Super Bowl opening rematch between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. While the Seahawks bested the Patriots, tonight's matchup on Netflix will feature the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams. In this article, you will find my best bets and player prop picks for Thursday Night Football!

Tonight's matchup isn't an ordinary one. It's the first Thursday Night Football outing of the season. Plus, it features an NFC West divisional clash between the 49ers (0-0) and Rams (0-0). The NFL will feature nine international games this season, and tonight's matchup will kick off in Melbourne, Australia.
The over/under total is set for 48.5 points. Therefore, oddsmakers are predicting a higher-scoring affair. Both teams are 5-5 SU head-to-head over the last 10 meetings, but the Rams got the best of the 49ers in November 2025, 42-26.
Both teams fell short of winning a championship last season, as the division rival Seahawks defeated the Patriots to win Super Bowl LX. Despite Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford earning the MVP award, the Rams were defeated by Seattle in the NFC Championship. Similarly, the 49ers were steamrolled by the Seahawks 41-6 in the Divisional round.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan remains at the helm in San Francisco, but the team will look a tad different as former defensive coordinator Robert Saleh left for the Tennessee Titans head coaching job. This season, the 49ers will rock with newly hired Raheem Morris as their new DC.
In addition to coaching changes, the 49ers lost several players in free agency, including wide receivers Jauan Jennings (Vikings), Kendrick Bourne (Cardinals), and Skyy Moore (Packers). In addition, running back Brian Robinson Jr. joined Bijan Robinson in Atlanta, and offensive lineman Spencer Burford went to the Raiders.
Furthermore, the 49ers rebuilt their receiving corps with Mike Evans, and Christian Kirk, while Deebo Samuel Sr. returned to the Bay Area along with Dre Greenlaw.
For the Rams, head coach Sean McVay returns along with defensive coordinator Chris Shula. In addition, Nate Scheelhaase will take over as the new offensive coordinator.
Overall, there's a reason why the Rams are favored to win the Super Bowl (+500). Aaron Donald came out of retirement after the Rams shipped Jared Verse to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for Myles Garrett. Although Donald is out for tonight's matchup, the Rams bolstered their defense by a ton. Plus, the Rams added a pair of cornerbacks from the Chiefs in Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson, along with drafting rookie quarterback Ty Simpson.
The Rams lose Verse, Ron Havenstein, and Cobie Durant, but they maintain an elite defense (on paper) and a strong offensive quartet that includes Matthew Stafford, Puka Nacua (barring any suspensions), Kyren Williams, and Davante Adams.

BEST ODDS FOR SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS VS. LOS ANGELES RAMS
If you're betting on the NFL game between the 49ers and Rams, welcome!
Tonight's game will kick off at 8:35 p.m. ET at Melbourne Cricket Ground and will air on Netflix. Let's take a look at my three best bets and player prop picks for the 49ers vs. Rams matchup on Thursday, Sept. 10.
I've included player prop bets for popular wide receivers, quarterbacks, and running backs. You can find all of my bets placed within Fanatics and DraftKings Sportsbook.

For my first best bet, I locked in Rams wide receiver Davante Adams to record a 20+ longest reception against the 49ers.
Adams is firmly listed as the Rams' WR2 opposite of Puka Nacua. Entering year 13 in the NFL, Adams is widely considered one of the best receivers in NFL history. At 6-foot-1, he's an outside threat who's elite in creating separation and running long routes. Throughout his career, Adams has averaged nearly 24 yards on his longest reception per game since 2014.
Despite being limited to 14 games in 2025-26, Adams averaged a longest reception of 23.5 yards and hauled in a season-high 44-yard reception in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
When I mentioned Adams is elite in creating space, he ranked fifth among NFL receivers in average separation (2.1) and hauled in 28.34% of team air yards. That's not bad considering Nacua is the clear-cut No. 1 receiver. Even in a crowded receiver room, Adams was targeted 29.4% on routes, which is pretty solid.
Yes, Adams is coming off a career-low 2.0 yards after catches, but produced a career-best 12.3 aDOT with the Rams. Now he enters this matchup as a player who produced over 600 receiving yards against zone defense, one that the 49ers defense has previously deployed. Now he gets a 49ers team who ranked No. 25 in defensive pass DVOA last season and allowed 149.1 yards to receivers, the seventh-most in the NFL.
The 49ers once boasted the NFL's best defense, but I truly don't trust the secondary ... just yet. Adams has the clear height advantage over Renardo Green and even Ji'Ayir Brown.
Overall, this is a 49ers defense that pressured quarterbacks just 16.7% last season, which was the third-lowest in the NFL. Also, Adams cleared this line in 13 of 17 games including the playoffs last season, not to mention that he's cleared this prop line in the last two matchups against San Francisco.
As far as volume goes, Adams played upwards of 70% of snaps in two of the final three games last season. While Nacua remains the No. 1 wideout, I don't think Adams has much competition outside of two-tight end sets and receiver Jordan Whittington.
For the second-best bet, I locked in 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy to record over 15.5 rushing yards against the Rams.
We know Purdy can move the chains with his legs, he recorded 323 rushing yards and 5 rushing touchdowns in 2024. While limited to just nine games with turf toe last season, he recorded 147 rushing yards, averaging 16.3 per game.
Luckily for Purdy, defensive end Aaron Donald will miss tonight's contest. But still, this Rams defense is elite on paper, and he should draw pressure from Kobie Turner, Byron Young, and Myles Garrett and company.
Yes, you read that correctly, Purdy now has to deal with Myles Garrett on the other side of the field. The two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year recorded a career-high 23 sacks along with three forced fumbles in 2025-26 with the Browns.
Yes, there will be pressure, forcing Purdy to run. In 2025, the Rams ranked fourth in quarterback pressure rate (26.3%) although blitz rate was fairly low (17.7%). As a team, the Rams forced quarterbacks to run an average of 16.4 yards per game, including 4.32 yards per carry.
The defensive pressure was evident as we saw the following quarterbacks clear this 15.5 player prop rushing line:
That's at least 10 weeks where opposing quarterbacks rushed for over 15.5 yards regularly against the Rams. And today, the stars align as Purdy has averaged 13.8 rushing yards per game including the playoffs.
For my third-best bet, I took Rams running back Kyren Williams to record 70+ rushing and receiving yards against the 49ers. Ever since Blake Corum was drafted, I've wondered whether McVay will fully commit to a running back committee. While that's partially true, it's fair to say both running backs had productive years.
Yes, Corum produced 746 rushing yards and six touchdowns, but Williams exploded for 1,252 rushing yards, 281 receiving yards, 10 rushing and 3 receiving touchdowns. He's now produced three straight seasons of 1,100-plus rushing yards in addition to 180+ receiving yards. In fact, Williams ranked among the top six NFL running backs in rushing yards and averaged 4.8 yards per carry.
Williams is only 26 years old and has four years of NFL experience, all with the Rams. He's in his prime, why would I fade him this year? Despite playing alongside Corum, Williams far outplayed him with 900 snaps compared to 411. I'm more or less expecting the same this year, although maybe Corum might see some increased touches.
Although the 49ers' pass defense struggled in 2025, the rush defense ranked among the top 10. That said, they allowed 1,582 rushing yards to running backs in addition to 607 receiving yards, the 10th-most in the NFL.
I would say that Kyren Williams is a nice fit in McVay's scheme. Although he recorded 100-plus rushing yards just once last season, he was consistent to a certain degree. What's not been consistent game-to-game has been the receiving yards.
However, there's a silver lining in everything: Williams last rushed for 65 yards and hauled in 66 receiving yards (131 rushing and receiving yards), along with two touchdowns against the 49ers last October. In 2024, he rushed for 108 yards against the 49ers in December and compiled 116 rushing and receiving yards against them in late September.
