This Saturday marks the annual Magnolia Bowl between Ole Miss and LSU. But you could also call it the Kiffin Revenge Game if you want. The former Ole Miss head coach will be on the sidelines at "The Vaught" in Oxford only months 10 months after he left the Rebels for the Tigers.

It appears the annual Ole Miss/LSU game will be decided in the trenches this year, as these type of games so often are. The Tigers have a suspect running game. The Rebels have a a mediocre defensive front. Which unit, the LSU O-line or the Ole Miss D-line, will move bodies the most and make the plays in the sumo-wrestling battles that make up most plays in college football?
The Rebels have two superstars on offense in Trinidad Chambliss and Kewan Lacy, which is one more than Kiffin has on his offense (QB and Heisman candidate Sam Leavitt). But, the numbers that Leavitt has put up in two games are troubling: only 62% completions and four (yes, FOUR) interceptions. Accuracy and mistakes cannot be a problem against Ole Miss, even if the Rebels defense is less than stellar.
This game should be a shootout in Oxford. Ultimately, Chambliss trumps Leavitt, and the Tigers will need to prove they have an answer for Lacy.
This game could be personal for Chambliss, who played under Kiffin last season. Now in his fifth year, the projected top pick in the next NFL Draft is showing the experience of having started 15 games last season, including one contest in the CFB Playoff. He should improve on his 3,937 yards from a year ago, which led Division-1 college football.
Chambliss has topped 300 yards passing in seven of his eight career games against SEC opponents. He'll have plenty of opportunities to find his favorite receivers (even Lacy out of the backfield) on Saturday against a fairly average LSU linebacker and secondary corps.
The atmosphere will be highly charged for the Magnolia Bowl, and this will be the last chance Chambliss has to face the Tigers in Oxford in front of the home fans.
The most anticipated game on Saturday is this SEC opener between the Tigers and Rebels. The game will be seen on ABC in primetime.
Kiffin will need to sharpen his quarterback whispering skills to get Leavitt on track following a shaky start to the season (2 TD passes, 4 INT). The Ole Miss secondary and virtually non-existent pass rush could help. That's why I like the score to be high in this SEC battle.
The O/U is set to 59.5, but that feels low. Ole Miss surrendered 38 points in Week 1 against Louisville. LSU ranked fifth in the SEC in scoring defense a year ago. But the defensive unit lost five starters, and has so far been uninspiring against inferior opposition. Ole Miss is fast and highly-skilled on offense. The scoreboard will have lots of flashing lights.
