Phoenix Suns (42-29) are coming off of a dominant victory in their most recent road game against the aforementioned San Antonio Spurs last Saturday. They were able to cover the -10-point spread with relative ease with a 131-106 victory.

In that game, it was Devin Booker (32 points, 9 assists, 7 rebounds) and Kevin Durant (25 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds) show who combined for 57 of the Sun's 131 points. The Suns as a team shot 60% from the floor and 46% from 3-point range which was ultimately too much for the youthful Spurs.

WHY PHOENIX SUNS WILL COVER THE SPREAD

The Phoenix Suns are surging at the right time winning three straight contests and are looking to make it four in a row when they take on a familiar foe in the San Antonio Spurs in this Monday night matchup.

They most recently defeated the Spurs by a score of 131-106, dominating from start to finish. The Suns' defense was what made them so dominant in that win, stifling the young Spurs squad, and even limiting Victor Wembanyama to just 13 points in 20 minutes of action.

While their defense put a stamp on that matchup, they also put up great numbers on the offensive side of the ball as well.

They shot a staggering 60% from the floor and 46% from 3-point range and everyone was getting involved. While both Kevin Durant and Devin Booker did the heavy lifting, everyone who took the court scored at least one basket, making this win a collective effort.

The San Antonio Spurs at this point of the season are just looking to play spoiler and that is exactly what they intend to do tonight against the Phoenix Suns. They didn't have much luck doing so in their most recent outing against the Suns but if Victor Wembanyama and company come to play, this will be a completely different ballgame.

It was uncharacteristic of Victor Wembyama not even to eclipse 15 points as he's been averaging 20.7 points per game on the season. He wasn't the only player to have a down game as the entire Spurs squad was nonexistent in their clash with the Phoenix Suns.

Even with a terrible performance by all, the Spurs are still 5-5 ATS in their last 10 and love a backdoor cover, especially at home where they are 17-18 ATS meanwhile, the Suns are just 15-18-1 ATS on the road. While we may not see an upset special here from the Spurs, they are always live to cover the spread even against the juggernauts in the NBA.

This should be a fun matchup between one of the powerhouses in the league the Phoenix Suns and one of the youngest teams in the league with the brightest star on the rise the San Antonio Spurs.

Unfortunately for the Spurs, this should look eerily similar to their Saturday home matchup with the Suns. The Suns offense boasts some of the top scorers in the league and the one-man show that is Victor Wembanyama is not going to be able to keep up.
