How desperate are the Falcons? They're making a quarterback change after two games out of necessity. That means Kris Kringle-lookalike Cooper Rush will be holding a clipboard after starting the first two losses this season.
Michael Penix Jr. has started 12 games in the NFL. The last time was in November of 2025 when he tore his ACL. This summer he told the Falcons he didn't feel ready to come back for the start of the season. That seems telling.
I like players who feel comfortable and confident. Penix is coming back slowly, and that causes me to stay far away from his passing props.
Consider this: Penix has thrown for as many as 250 yards in only four games. He has only six TD passes in seven road games. With this being his first game back post-surgery, I don't expect him to air the ball out effectively. The Falcons aren't a good pass blocking team, and rank last in the NFL in pass completions, passing yards, and TDs through the air through two games. Is that a reflection of their QB mess, or a reflection of the O-line and passing corps? It's about 50-50, and Penix won't be able to change that this Thursday.
A winning $100 bet will return $298, including your stake.
Historically, Jordan Love doesn't leave the pocket to run downfield much. The Green Bay quarterback averages about two carries per game, which ranks in the bottom third among starting QBs on NFL rosters at the start of this season.
But, the Packers are struggling to protect Love through two games. As a result he's needed to throw the ball 71 times, often in situations facing long yardage and/or well behind on the scoreboard. In this TNF matchup where the Packers should win, Love may need to lean into bolting out of the pocket more than usual, especially in the red zone.
Love hasn't had a rushing TD since Week 11 in 2024(!) I say, the time is ripe for "Pookie" to get into the end zone with his feet against the Falcons tonight. If I am correct, the +600 odds will be to my advantage.Β I'm going in at $50, for a chance to win $300.
The Falcons have been dysfunctional on offense, but they can run the ball with the Robinson Bros, Bijan and Brian (not related). Even if Penix cannot orchestrate a passing game, the Falcons can move the chains.
The Packers offense has been invisible for far too many minutes this season: in five of its eight full quarters, the Packers offense has failed to score a touchdown.
For all their struggles, the Falcons have been bit by the turnover bug: -6 through two games. The defense actually ranks first in fewest rush yards allowed, and overall its 15th in yards per game. If Atlanta avoids turnovers, it can stay in the game at Lambeau, at least for a half.
