The Trail Blazers have now lost nine games in a row as they continue their road trip as they head down south to take on the Orlando Magic in this Monday-night matchup at the Kia Center. We take a look at this matchup to make a Trail Blazers-Magic prediction and pick.
Portland Trail Blazers (19-55) are now just 1.5 games ahead of the bottom-feeding San Antonio Spurs and the rest of the season is lost at this point. As of now, the Trail Blazers are just looking toward the future and what they can achieve from the NBA draft as they come into the 2024-2025 season.
For the rest of this season however, the Trail Blazers will look to gain some momentum before the season's end, and for them to do that they need to go out there and give it their all starting with tonight's matchup.
The Trail Blazers will look to right the ship and stop the bleeding when they head to Orlando to take on the Magic in this Monday-night showdown.
Orlando Magic (43-31) host the Portland Trail Blazers, aiming to keep their recent momentum going after they finally stopped their losing streak by defeating the Memphis Grizzlies this past Saturday 118-88. They took it to the Grizzlies as a collective group with no scoring more than 15 points but with seven players scoring in double digits.
This Magic is looking to continue this momentum as we head toward the playoff stretch. They will be looking to continue their dominance and their momentum when they play host to the Portland Trail Blazers in tonight's matchup at the KiaCenter.
The Portland Trail Blazers don't have much to play for the rest of the season. They are second to last place in the Western Conference with just 19 wins on the season and are just looking toward next season at this point. They also could potentially be without the majority of their roster when they head out on the road for this Monday night matchup with the Rockets.
While the Trail Blazers have been downright atrocious on the season, they are still an NBA-level team with a 16.5-point spread to cover. You normally don't see an NBA team getting 16.5 points let alone against a team that isn't tops in the league like the Orlando Magic. The way that the Magic have been struggling before their win against Memphis gives the Trail Blazers some life to cover this lofty spread.
Without both Jerami Grant and Anfernee Simons, Scoot Henderson and Deandre Ayton have been the go-to men for the Trail Blazers as they combined for 38 points in their most recent defeat to the Miami Heat. It will be up to Henderson and Ayton to ignite this offense in an attempt to cover the spread against this Orlando Magic squad.
The Orlando Magic were looking like a team to watch out for as they make their playoff push and then they hit a three-game rough patch. They have now gotten back on track in a big way when they downed the Memphis Grizzlies by 30 points and are looking to make it 2 in a row when they take on the lowly Portland Trail Blazers in this Monday-night matchup.
The Magic were able to stop their three-game skid thanks to an all-around effort by their squad. Only their star forward Paolo Banchero played 30 minutes on the night and he was the most impactful player on the court with a 13-point, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4-block stat line. However, they played a cohesive unit with four of their starters scoring in double figures as well as three of their players off the bench. Another solid outing like this can take it to the Trail Blazers to cover the spread in back-to-back games.
The Portland Trail Blazers have some uphill sledding ahead of them without most of their starting cast when they take on the surging Orlando Magic. While the Magic are just 6-4 in their last 10 games they are also 6-4 ATS as well, covering as a double-digit favorite in three of those 6 games
While it isn't for the faint at heart to lay 16.5 points, but it is recommended here when you have a depleted Trail Blazers squad that is coming off of one of the biggest losses in their history as well as one of the biggest losses of the year in the NBA of 40 points to the Miami Heat. Lay the points with the Magic as they soar past the Trail Blazers in this Monday matchup.
FINAL TRAIL BLAZERS-ROCKETS PICK & PREDICTION: Orlando Magic -16.5 (-108)
