As mentioned previously, tonight's marquee matchup features the Dallas Wings (20-14, 10-8) and the Indiana Fever (21-12, 12-6 home).
It will be the second meeting of 2026 as the Wings defeated the Fever on the road in a thrilling season opener, 107-104. Since then, both teams have stayed in playoff contention, as the Wings trail the Fever 1.5 games back for the No. 4 seed. Despite Dallas sitting in the seventh spot, not many games differentiate these two teams.
For a lack of a better word, this game is high-stakes. This marquee matchup features prominent stars, including MVP candidate Kelsey Mitchell. However, injuries have defined Dallas as both squads are trending in opposite directions. Today, the Wings will be without rookie Azzi Fudd (knee), Jessica Shepard (ankle), and Aziaha James (lower leg).
Oddsmakers aren't predicting this matchup to be particularly close as the Fever enter tonight's contest as 8.5-point favorites at home. They are expecting a high-scoring matchup with the over/under scoring total set for 186.5 points.
As the season continues to roll, the Fever have the fifth-best odds (+1200) on FanDuel to win the 2026 WNBA Championship. The Wings have the seventh-best odds (+3300).

Here are my best bets, player prop picks, and my predictions for the Dallas Wings vs. Indiana Fever matchup on Friday, August 14.
I locked in the Indiana Fever to cover the 7.5-point alternate spread today against the Dallas Wings. This number is increasing and is currently at 8.5, so be sure to grab it now!
Normally, I would take Dallas to cover here, but there are too many factors going against them. They continue to be without No. 1 overall pick Azzi Fudd, who will miss her fourth-straight game with a knee injury. In this case, the Wings lose a solid defender and a sharpshooter, who's averaging just over 13 points per game this season.
Then comes the loss of WNBA All-Star Jessica Shepard, who's set to miss a second-straight game after suffering an ankle injury. Dallas already struggled with rim protection and inside strength. Losing a player who's averaging 14.2 points and 11.4 rebounds is a huge loss, especially against Indiana's frontcourt in Aliyah Boston and Mikayla Timpson.
Plus, the Wings will be without Aziaha James, who suffered a leg injury last game against the Tempo. Injuries aren't the only reason why I like the spread, but the Wings' depth significantly shrinks.
The outlook isn't great for the Wings, who play the Fever on the road. Not only that, but Indiana is rolling, winning two straight games and seven of their last 10. Indiana boasts a potent offense, one that produces a league-high 96.2 points per game behind Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, and Sophie Cunningham.
While the defense needs work, the Fever own the WNBA's best offensive rating (101.4). With that, they rank third in NET rating (8.7). Over the last 10 games, this team has really started to gel as they've posted the second-best NET rating (12) and the top offensive rating (122.5).
Lately we've seen the Fever cover the 3.5-point spread, which included a 106-92 victory over the Liberty. In July, they covered large 8.5-point, 9.5-point, and 10.5-point favorable spreads against the Fire, Storm, and Sun. Overall, Indiana is 16-16 ATS, 13-12 ATS as a favorite, and 9-9 ATS at home.
Dallas hasn't been efficient covering this season, as they post a 15-19 ATS record, 7-9 ATS record on the road, and a 7-8 ATS record as an underdog. Over the last 10 games, the Wings are 4-6 ATS and are 2-3 ATS against the Fever since July 2025.
Right now, Dallas isn't playing winning basketball and they are marred with injuries. With a 2-5 record over the last seven games, this is a team that's 0-4 ATS over the last four games, and owns the 11th-worst offensive rating (108.3) over the last seven games. Over that span, they are allowing 9.0 fast break points and over 41 paint points per game.
The first matchup presented a different story. In a high-scoring affair, Boston, Mitchell, and Clark combined for 73 points against the Wings, while shooting 52% from the field. I doubt the Wings will shoot over 52%, as they are shooting just 32.6% from beyond the arc over the last seven games.
For my second-best bet, I'm locking in Paige Bueckers to score over 21.5 points against the Fever.
I know this is a popular pick, but it's the right one. Bueckers is the 1A option in Dallas, especially more now than ever with so many injuries. Through 32 games she's averaging 20.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 5.8 assists, while shooting 50.6% from the field and 38.6% from three.
I like this prop for several reasons: Bueckers has scored at least 20+ points in three of the last six games and has scored 22+ points in back-to-back games against the Tempo and Lynx.
In that short span, Bueckers is posting 22.5 points and shooting 52.8% from field and 100% from the line. And she's found success while shooting just 2-of-8 from three over the last two games. She's not only doing the heavy lifting with minutes played over that span (32.5 mpg), but her shot volume has increased dramatically.
Bueckers is averaging a career-high 15.2 FGA in 2026, but has increased her shot volume to 16.5 FGA over the last two games. Plus, she boasts a career-best 24.9% usage rate. Those are two reasons alone why I like Bueckers to clear this player prop line.
Soaring over this prop in 50% of games this season, she's cleared this in two straight games and fortunately faces a weak Fever defense. As mentioned previously, Indiana thrives offensively, but the defense is a work in progress.
In 2026, the Fever own the eighth-worst defensive rating (108) in the WNBA through 33 games. Allowing over 90.4 points per game, the Fever allow opponents to shoot 46.3% from the field and 34.3% from three.
Bueckers isn't a high-volume 3-point shooter, but she's going to get her points tonight. Whether it's off curl screens or mid-range shots, Bueckers always finds a way to score. In fact, in the season opener, she erupted for 20 points in 32 minutes, while shooting 8-of-10 from the field, 1-of-3 from three, and 3-of-6 from the line. I expect her to clean up the free throws and I also expect that shot volume to increase.
For my third-best bet, I'm locking in Aliyah Boston to record over 16.5 points against the Wings.
Through 30 games, Boston is averaging 17 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.2 blocks, while shooting 53.2% from the field and 45.8% from three.
Recently named to the FIBA World Cup Women's Basketball team, Boston is having a career-year. Not only is she a dominant force inside at 6-foot-5, but she's extended her game out to the 3-point line where she's shooting 45.8%. That number is huge.
I'm fully expecting Boston to have success against Dallas, which should pit her against Alanna Smith and Awak Kuier (who to me isn't the most efficient rim protector).
In the season opener, we saw Boston score 23 points in 26 minutes, while shooting 9-of-14 from the field, 1-of-2 from three, and 4-of-6 from the line. At times, she was walking into the paint, which we've seen over and over again with the Dallas defense.
While Boston as far extended her range, the Wings allow the third-most paint points per game (41.5), and today they have limited frontcourt depth. Although Dallas has improved some inside over the last few games, we've seen Shakira Austin (27, 28 points), Angel Reese (22 points), and Megan DiLeo (21 points) have success against Dallas' bigs.
Boston is fresh off a 19-point performance against the Liberty and has cleared this line in 53% of games in 2026. Overall, Dallas allows 19 points to centers per game and even with Li Yueru, they do lack rim protection.
