WNBA Best Bets for June 10: Odds, Player Props & Predictions for Brittney Sykes and Kelsey Plum

Just two games are on the card for Wednesday in the WNBA, as the Connecticut Sun visit the Toronto Tempo for an Eastern Conference showdown north of the border. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Sparks head to the Pacific Northwest to visit the Seattle Storm.

These are statement games for both the Tempo and Sparks, as they have opportunities to gain some ground in the playoff race at the quarter-pole of the season. Neither the Sun nor the Storm should pose much of a threat in these games. So the only real questions are which players are poised for big games.

WNBA Best Bets: Wednesday's Top Player Props

I am actually looking forward to watching tonight's WNBA games, as I love what I've seen with the Toronto Tempo early on, and I'm always intrigued to see what the Los Angeles Sparks do, considering their proximity to Las Vegas.

I've got vested interest from both games tonight, as there are a few props that stand out. Here are my top three prop plays from this game:

Brittney Sykes OVER 19.5 points (-114)

If you didn't have a chance to read my feature on Brittney Sykes earlier this week, do yourself a favor and find out why she's become one of Toronto's favorite athletes. The veteran guard has found herself a home, and is thriving under the coaching of Sandy Brondello.

With the Tempo in a playoff position early on, I feel as if this could be a big game for them, and Sykes will be a major reason. I know she is averaging only 12 points per game in 26 career appearances against the Sun, but I don't know if she's ever played a prominent role like she has this season. Sykes has scored in double figures in 10 of 11 games, including 20 or more in five of them.

Aaliyah Edwards UNDER 5.5 rebounds (-132)

With Brittney Griner listed as questionable with a left rib strain, you would think the Connecticut Sun would rely on Aaliyah Edwards' paint presence tonight. But what I've noticed is the rebounds Aneesah Morrow has been getting in Griner's absence this season. And even if Griner plays tonight, she might be limited with her movement to the rim, leaving the blue-collar work to Morrow, who doesn't have a prop available.

Thus, I'm stuck with Edwards. The 6-foot-3 forward has turned in five or fewer rebounds in six of the seven games she's appeared in this season. And while Toronto might be missing Temi Fagbenle, who is listed OUT with a right shoulder injury, the Tempo have Nyara Sabally and Isabelle Harrison battling in the paint. Play Edwards under 5.5 rebounds.

Kelsey Plum OVER 21.5 points (-104)

I don't mind laying the price for Kelsey Plum in this spot, as there are a few places she enjoys lighting up the scoreboard. Obviously, in Los Angeles, which isn't too far away from her hometown. There's Las Vegas, where she played and won two championships. And there's Seattle, where she broke the NCAA scoring title while she starred at Washington.

Plum, who has scored 25 or more points in seven of the eight games she's played in this season, is averaging just 13.9 points per game in 28 appearances against the Storm. But she's scored 20 or more in four of the last six meetings in Seattle. And by the way, let's not forget she spent the beginning of her career facing Sue Bird, Jordin Canada and Jewell Loyd when taking on Seattle. I don't know who is locking down Plum tonight.
