Key Points
  • Two games on the card tonight, and W.G. has opinions on one side, one total and one player prop.
  • The Minnesota Lynx aren't just the No. 1 team with a 15-4 record, they boast the No. 1 ATS mark, at 14-5.
  • Chelsea Gray has registered eight or more assists in six straight games. Her total tonight is 7.5. Will she go over or under?

Just two games on the eve of our nation's birthday, with a firecracker of a game taking place in Brooklyn. It'll be the second straight blockbuster for the New York Liberty, who are fresh off their Commissioner's Cup win over the Las Vegas Aces and now host the league's No. 1 team, the Minnesota Lynx. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. ET, and can be seen on ION.

The Aces, meanwhile, get back on the court after their failed rally in Brooklyn, and will host a Chicago Sky team that just lost by eight at home to Las Vegas on Sunday. The Aces have won eight straight against Chicago and will aim for their ninth straight when they close out the doubleheader on ION at 10 p.m. ET.

Minnesota Lynx at New York Liberty

After a shocking home loss to Washington, the Lynx went on the road and got revenge against the Mystics three days later. Four days after that, it was an impressive road win over the Wings in Dallas. The Lynx aren't just the No. 1 team with a 15-4 record, they boast the No. 1 ATS mark, at 14-5.

The Lynx's triple-headed monster in the backcourt of Olivia Miles, Courtney Williams and Kayla McBride is averaging 46.1 points and 12.4 assists per game. Minnesota is the only team with three players among all guards with scoring averages ranked in the top 16.

  • WNBA Betting Prediction: Minnesota -1.5 (-118)

The Lynx have won three of the last four meetings, but arrive in Brooklyn on an 8-2 ATS run when facing the Liberty. With extra time to rest, while the Liberty were on the court with the Aces a few days ago, the Lynx should be eager to get back in action. I'm not sure how the Liberty plan to defend Minnesota's backcourt triumvirate, but it won't be enough.

Chicago Sky at Las Vegas Aces

The fact that these two teams just met in Chicago, and went over the 200-point plateau makes the game intriguing. The Sky should come in with revenge on the brain after dropping a 107-99 decision to the Aces at home. They'll certainly have their hands full, though, as we saw last September, when the Aces beat the Sky in back-to-back home games by 14 and 31 points.

Aces coach Becky Hammon has continued to harp on her team's defense, and this is a good opportunity to flex some muscle. That said, one thing to note about this series is that while the Aces are on a 6-0 SU run, the Sky have covered five of the last seven meetings against Las Vegas.

  • WNBA Betting Prediction: Under 180.5 (-114)

Off the Commissioner's Cup loss, the Aces will be looking to take their frustrations out somewhere. The Aces have stayed under in their last two home games, against very good New York Liberty and Golden State Valkyries teams, so in this step down in caliber, look for their defense to dictate a low-scoring game.

WNBA Prop Bet For July 3

Chelsea Gray Assists

The Point Gawd sits third in the WNBA with 7.4 assists per game, but can erupt — as we all know — for double digits in any game. The other night, I told you she would go over her prop number in the Commissioner's Cup championship, and she did. Now, Chelsea Gray facing a weaker Sky team than the Liberty, and she'll be in her house.

Gray has registered eight or more assists in six straight games, including nine in four of them. On Sunday, in Chicago, she dealt eight helpers in the eight-point win. In her last five home games, Gray is averaging 8.2 assists per game. And overall this season, she's cleared the 7.5-assist threshold in 10 of 19 games.

  • WNBA Betting Prediction: Over 7.5 Assists (+106)

Interestingly enough, Chelsea Gray averages 6.0 or more assists against only one opponent during her career, brace yourself, with 6.3 against the Aces from her time with the Los Angeles Sparks. That said, she's averaging 7.0 over her last 10 meetings with Chicago. I am confident we can get one more tonight, as the Aces will be on a mission to avenge Tuesday's loss in Brooklyn.
