The Dallas Wings snapped a mini-skid when they went into Connecticut and eked out an 86-83 win over the Sun on Thursday night. Considering where the Sun are in the WNBA standings, the Wings will likely still be seething over their back-to-back losses to the Las Vegas Aces and Minnesota Lynx when they visit the Toronto Tempo today. Tip-off is at 3 p.m. Eastern with the game available on WNBA League Pass.
And when the Aces take the court against the Indiana Fever today at T-Mobile Arena, the game will be without two of the biggest stars of the game, with both A'ja Wilson and Caitlin Clark sitting this one out. The Fever open a four-game road trip that is bookmarked with games in Las Vegas, while the Aces will have three days off before playing in Portland next. The 7 p.m. ET tip will be broadcast on ESPN.

The road hasn't been kind to the Wings, as they've lost four of their last six away from Dallas. It makes this game that much more important, as they can't take anyone lightly while sitting in fifth place and with three games left on this trip, including a trip to Brooklyn on Tuesday. The Wings have been outscored on the road in 2026 by an average final of 92.5 to 90.1.
Toronto, meanwhile, has alternated wins and losses after suffering through a three-game losing skid in mid-June. If the pattern holds, the Tempo is due for an outright win. The problem for them is, even though they're outscoring guests by 3.0 points per visit, they've lost six of 10 in Toronto this season.
I don't think Toronto is going to win this game, but I don't think the Wings will cover. We've seen time and time again teams push Dallas to the brink of defeat, and Paige Bueckers answers the call with big shot after big shot to lift the Wings to victory. I wouldn't be surprised to see Marina Mabrey keep the Tempo in this game, and quite possibly give them an early lead, but watch Dallas — which has failed to cover six straight road games — close things out with a straight-up win.
The Tempo should dictate the pace in this one, and that means punching the bully in the mouth first. To do so against one of the most potent offenses in the league, Toronto must jump out to an early lead. It wouldn't be uncommon, as the Tempo rank fifth in the WNBA with 21.9 points per first quarter. They're sixth in the league with 42.8 per first half.
Dallas has four players averaging double-digit scoring, so when the Wings are ready to join the offensive explosion, it could be anyone from Bueckers, to Jessica Shepard, to Arike Ogunbowale, to Azzi Fudd. The Wings are scoring 41.2 points per first half, but if the Tempo open an early lead, this will be a game we see Dallas taking advantage of Toronto's defense, which allows the second-highest points (44.9) in the first half.
This is the first meeting between the two, so defending one another might be tough over the first 20 minutes. Toronto coach Sandy Brondello knows how to make adjustments and will do so at intermission. But, I can clearly see the Tempo opening a two- to four-point lead after one, as the teams will get us around 44 points. The Wings, who have gone over in four of their last six, will make their push in the second quarter and help push the first half high.
The Indiana Fever tend to play a bit more balanced without Clark, as they have the personnel they can rely on starting with leading scorer Kelsey Mitchell, who is averaging 21.6. The Fever will likely use the 1-2, high-low punch with Mitchell and Aliyah Boston, who is scoring 17.0 points per game. Throw in Sophie Cunningham's 3-point threat, and this team is capable of erupting.
The Aces survived a scare from the Chicago Sky on Friday, winning in overtime, 98-90. Becky Hammon's troops are still struggling with their defense, as they've allowed 90 or more in three straight — two of the games against the Sky. Now they face a high-octane offense that will be looking to take advantage of Wilson's absence. The Fever lead the WNBA with their scoring offense (93.9).
The Fever arrive in Las Vegas after scoring 110.0 points per game in their last two games. They've topped the century mark in four of their last six games and gone over in five of those six. The Aces have gone over in four straight games, and like the Fever, in missing their star, will get a balanced effort with everyone contributing on the stat sheet.
