WNBA Best Bets (June 22): Top Player Props & Odds For Indiana Fever Featuring Kelsey Mitchell, Caitlin Clark

Four games on the card for Monday, with four playoff-hopeful teams in action, and another just trying to stay afloat. Whether or not any of the games can rival what we saw in the wild 30th Anniversary game in Los Angeles Sunday night, we might see an upset, or two, tonight.

Let's take a look at my best WNBA bets and player prop plays for today!

The Phoenix Mercury have looked nothing like the team that found its way into the WNBA Finals last season, as it's lost seven of 10 and is 5-12 a month before the All-Star break. Of the four teams in the basement, and seemingly out of the playoff race at this point, Phoenix is the team I'm holding out hope for, as it has a favorable schedule over the next six games.

The Mercury will play two in Indianapolis before heading to Toronto. With things slowly unraveling with the Fever, and the Tempo missing Brittney Sykes, Phoenix could grab two wins. Then it goes home for the Seattle Storm, Chicago Sky and Fever again — all winnable games.

Indiana could find itself on the outside looking in if the defense doesn't shore up. The Fever are allowing 89.7 points per game (12th in the league) on 45.4 percent shooting (8th). But over their last five games, they've been torched for 98.6 points (13th) on 47.1 percent shooting (9th). The Fever could gain some momentum during a three-game homestand that begins tonight, something they can use before heading to the West Coast to open July.

The Fever are in desperation mode. It's that simple. There is no tomorrow for this team, as the frustration is crystal clear on everyone's faces after every missed shot, whistle, foul, turnover ... you name it. Indiana needs a blowout win, and this is a good spot for the Fever to play as a team finally.

The Fever are 6-3 and are outscoring their guests 98.4 to 91.1 this season, which brings us to the seven-point threshold. Now they host a team they've dominated the past several years and has lost its last two road games. Since their impressive season-opening road win in Las Vegas, the Mercury have lost six of their last eight road games. Since May 10, the Mercury have allowed 87.2 points on the road, seventh highest in the league.

WNBA Betting Prediction: Indiana Fever -7.5 (-112)

While the Mercury swept the regular-season series last year, the Fever are on winning runs of 6-2 SU and 7-1 ATS against Phoenix — including a perfect 3-0 on the court and at the window when the teams meet in Indianapolis. The Fever grab a much-needed win tonight.

Here are my top player prop predictions for the Indiana Fever vs. Phoenix Mercury on June 22.

• Kelsey Mitchell Over 2.5 3-pointers (+154)
• Aliyah Boston Under 16.5 Points (-128)
• Caitlin Clark Over 8.5 Assists (+100)

Kelsey Mitchell OVER 2.5 3-pointers

Who is coach Stephanie White running the offense through? Is it Kelsey Mitchell? Is it Caitlin Clark? Should she scrap the backcourt and push things through Aliyah Boston? There seems to be far too much confusion as to who should be getting the ball, and until the dust settles, we can't count on any sort of consistency with this team.

I know Mitchell comes into tonight with two or fewer 3s in five of the last seven games, but she's averaging 6.2 attempts per game. She's topped 2.5 3-pointers five times in 16 games this season, and we all know she's capable of taking over a game at any moment. Thus, with the Fever mired in a two-game skid after losing back-to-back games against the Atlanta Dream, the veteran leader could come alive tonight.

My WNBA Player Prop Bet: Kelsey Mitchell Over 2.5 3-pointers (+154)

• In 24 career games against the Mercury, Kelsey Mitchell is averaging 2.6 3-pointers per contest. The last time she faced the Mercury, she popped for five long-range jumpers. She's made three or more 3-pointers against Phoenix in five of the last seven meetings. I like her to go over tonight.

Aliyah Boston Under 16.5 Points

Aliyah Boston scored 23 points in Indiana's home loss to Atlanta on June 18. In Atlanta two days later, she was just 4 of 10 from the floor and scored only 13 points in the road loss. I would imagine she will be eager to open this homestand with a big night against the Mercury. But that means facing one of the most physical players in the game, Alyssa Thomas.

Boston has scored 18 or more points in eight of 15 games this season, and yes, she is averaging 21.3 points per home game. But if I'm banking on Mitchell to have the big game for Indiana, I'm counting on Boston to kick the ball to the perimeter. Their connection can be automatic, so if you can find an assist prop for Boston, consider the over.

My WNBA Player Prop Bet: Aliyah Boston UNDER 16.5 Points (-128)

• There is only one team Aliyah Boston isn't averaging at least 12 points against, and that's the Mercury. In 10 career games against Phoenix, the 6-foot-5 center is averaging only 11.4 points on .483 shooting. Perhaps it's because she's had to face the likes of Brittney Griner or Thomas when playing the Mercury. Whatever it is, she doesn't turn in points against Phoenix.

Caitlin Clark OVER 8.5 Assists

Let's face it, Caitlin Clark is arguably a top 5 point guard in the WNBA, as long as she's passing the rock. When her assist numbers are up, the Fever win. When they're not, they lose. Indiana is 6-2 when she has eight or more assists this season, and has dealt nine or more in seven of 15 games.

Granted, Clark hasn't had more than eight assists in four of the last six games, and in the two she did, 10 and 14, the Fever beat Chicago and Toronto, respectively. With an important three-game homestand tipping off tonight, the Fever need a complete effort from everyone, including Clark sharing the ball to the team's top scoring threats.

My WNBA Player Prop Bet: Caitlin Clark Over 8.5 Assists (+100)

• During her career, Caitlin Clark has averaged double-digit assist numbers against three teams: Chicago (10.0), Dallas (11.8) and Phoenix (11.7). Clark has never had fewer than 10 assists against the Mercury, with 12, 13 and 10 helpers. If there were ever a time for her to step up for her team, it's tonight against the Mercury.
