WNBA Best Bets (June 27): Sparks vs. Fever, Dream vs. Storm Odds & Picks

Key Points
  • The Indiana Fever will be without Caitlin Clark and Los Angeles Sparks will be without Kelsey Plum when the teams meet tonight in Indianapolis.
  • The Seattle Storm snapped an 11-game losing skid with a shocking upset of the New York Liberty in their last game.
  • Angel Reese has registered 11 or more rebounds in 10 of her 18 games this season, including nine of her last 12.

Just three games on the card for Saturday, with last season's runner-up Phoenix Mercury tipping off early in Canada against the expansion Toronto Tempo, who are fresh off a 28-point annihilation of the Los Angeles Sparks, who are without star guard Kelsey Plum.

With All-Star voting returns pouring in, jockeying for playoff position continues, with postseason hopefuls Los Angeles and Indiana meeting in Indianapolis. The Sparks are sitting in ninth place, one-half game behind the eighth spot, while the Fever, who will be without Caitlin Clark, are in seventh place.

The nightcap takes us to the Pacific Northwest, where the Storm have found their competitive edge, after nearly upsetting the Dallas Wings on Monday but then shocking the New York Liberty on Thursday. They'll host what could be a weary Atlanta Dream team that will be playing its third game in four nights, including last night's second-straight loss to the Golden State Valkyries in San Francisco.

Let's take a look at my best bets and player prop plays for today!

WNBA Best Bets: Los Angeles Sparks at Indiana Fever

The Indiana Fever will survive without Caitlin Clark much easier than the Los Angeles Sparks will without Kelsey Plum. With Kelsey Mitchell and Sophie Cunningham gunning from the perimeter, and Aliyah Boston controlling the paint, we'll finally see a drama-free game for the Fever. It's not a knock on Clark; it's more about what follows her with opponents and referees.

Indiana will have the week off after this one, and the urgency to win before the break should be high. The Fever have a chance to inch closer to the sixth-place Dallas Wings, as one game separates the two in the standings. The Fever has won the last two meetings, including the May 13 clash in Los Angeles, where Mitchell scored 23 points on 9 of 17 shooting, including 3 of 9 from 3-point range. Cunningham finished with 12 points and a +14 rating.

WNBA Betting Prediction: Indiana Fever -6.5 (-114)

  • I have a problem with how the Sparks performed in Toronto, and not sure they'll be able to mentally recover in time for a hostile environment in Indianapolis. I know the road team has won three of the last four meetings, but I'm not sure if the quick turnaround will be too much for Los Angeles.

WNBA Best Bets: Atlanta Dream at Seattle Storm

I'm not ready to buy into the Storm just yet, that they've turned the corner and are suddenly a team that will make a run into the playoff picture. But they're in an advantageous situation tonight, in welcoming the travel-weary Dream to town. While the Dream have lost two straight to the Golden State Valkyries in San Francisco over the last three days, they're still a dangerous team offensively and will be looking to shake the funk against an underwhelming defense.

Though the Dream have covered six of the last eight meetings, this is a Storm team that just overcame an 11-game losing streak. Seattle has been competitive for much of June, covering six of 10, including five of the last seven, and could accept the challenge of running with the Dream.

WNBA Betting Prediction: Over 168.5 (-108)

  • The pace will be intense tonight, with the Dream looking to snap their two-game skid, and the Storm looking for a second-straight upset against a vulnerable team. Though the teams have both split their 18 totals down the middle, the Dream have gone over in five of their last seven and the Storm have landed high in six of their last seven.

WNBA Player Prop: Angel Reese OVER 11.5 Rebounds

Angel Reese has snatched 11 or more rebounds in 10 of her 18 games, including four of her last six and nine of her last 12. The competitiveness will drive her to help her team shake this mini-funk, against a Seattle team that allows the league's second-most 36.3 rebounds per game. They also allow the second-highest offensive rebounds per game (10.3), and that's where Reese could come into play.

My WNBA Player Prop Bet: Angel Reese Over 11.5 Rebounds (-128)

  • In five career games against the Storm, she's averaging 10.6 rebounds. But this is her first meeting against them this season, and again, in need of a win, I like Angel Reese to have a big game.
