The Golden State Valkyries (26-11) will face the Connecticut Sun (10-27) in Uncasville. The Valkyries sit second in the standings and clinched a playoff berth. While they are four games back of the Minnesota Lynx for the top spot, Golden State is just one game ahead of the Las Vegas Aces.
Conversely, the Sun have been eliminated from playoff contention in what is their last season in Connecticut. Both squads will meet for the third time this season as the Valkyries lead 2-0. With a 7-3 record over the last 10 games, Golden State enters today's matchup as a 13.5-point favorite. Fresh off an 80-66 victory over the Lynx, the Valkyries are in a must-win situation today.
For the late-night matchup, the Seattle Storm (7-31) will host the Toronto Tempo (11-26) in the Emerald City. Both squads have been eliminated from WNBA playoff contention as Toronto wraps up its inaugural season and Seattle remains in full rebuild mode. Despite leading the regular-season series 2-0, the Tempo enter tonight's matchup as 6.5-point underdogs on the road.

Let's take a look at my best bets, player prop picks, and predictions for the WNBA games on Wednesday, Aug. 26.

I'm locking on Valkyries star Gabby Williams to record over 11.5 points against the Sun today. Named an All-Star in 2026, Williams is averaging a career-high 14.4 points and has started all 35 games this season. The Valkyries are the current No. 2 seed for a reason, and Williams has ultimately been Golden State's best player on both ends of the floor.
It's no secret that Williams has struggled to shoot the rock over the last four games. Over that span, she's shooting 30.4% from the field and 29.2% from beyond the arc. Even with those shooting percentages, she's still averaging 12.5 points per game, which is a point higher than the 11.5-point prop line today.
Williams did show "some" signs of life, scoring 15 points while shooting 5-of-15 from the field and 3-of-8 from three against the Lynx on Monday. Logging a full 30 minutes, it's important to note the Lynx boast the second-best defense in the WNBA. By no means was that an easy matchup for Williams.
Now, there is a chance of a blowout tonight. The Valkyries are tabbed as 13.5-point spread favorites and the Sun are faced with injuries and contract suspensions for the FIBA World Cup.
Williams has faced the Sun just once this season, on May 25. In the 95-70 victory over Connecticut, Williams delivered 15 points while shooting 6-of-10 from the field and 3-of-5 from three in just 18 minutes.
Yes, you read that correctly, 18 minutes.
The leader in scoring, Williams was intentional about driving downhill, wasn't afraid to pull from three with space or even contested, and was lethal in the mid-range, which is her bread and butter. On the perimeter, Connecticut simply gave Williams too much space. Now she gets a Sun team that will be without Brittney Griner and Olivia Nelson-Ododa—I'm expecting Williams to get downhill as much as she can.
For my second-best bet, I'm laying the points with the Golden State Valkyries on the road today. Normally, I don't bet on large spreads, but it's a strong lock today. Here's why.
Golden State reminds me of the NBA's San Antonio Spurs. The team is built on defense and grit. Today, they are favored by 13.5 points for the second time against Connecticut this season.
The Valkyries have been reliable against the spread all season, boasting a 20-16 ATS record, 13-11 ATS when favored, and 9-8 ATS on the road. And while the Sun have covered at home (12-7), there are too many factors going against them today.
I don't like to use injuries as an excuse, but the Sun are fresh off a back-to-back and will already be without Nelson-Ododa, Griner, and Lacan (not injury related). The Sun already allow 39.3 paint points per game, Golden State doesn't possess a ton of size, but can have an advantage tonight.
This is a Valkyries team that is 2-0 SU and ATS when favored by 13.5 points or more. Ironically, they won by 17 and 27 against lower-tier teams, the Sun and Tempo. In both games against Connecticut, they won by double-digit points, including a 17- and 15-point victory. In both outings, they averaged 88 points, which is unusual given that Golden State isn't the most efficient team offensively.
More impressive has been the defense, a headlining story all season long. The Sun have averaged just 67 points against Golden State and have failed to score over 70 points. If that doesn't speak volumes, I don't know what does. And in addition to the players out, Aneesah Morrow has been traded to Toronto since.
We are talking about a Valkyries team that just defeated the No. 1 Lynx by 80-66. Led by Williams, Veronica Burton, and more, this Valkyries team has a collection of heavy-hitters. On paper, these teams are very far apart as Janelle Salaun and Tiffany Hayes are strong options off the bench for Natalie Nakase. Despite defeating the Sky last night, the Sun depth isn't as strong.
For my third-best bet, I'm taking the Seattle Storm to cover the 6.5-point spread against the Toronto Tempo.
This may sound odd considering the Tempo are 2-0 against Seattle with a +17 average margin of victory. As mentioned previously, both teams have been eliminated from the playoffs, and Toronto is 1-9 SU over the last 10 games. Similarly, Seattle is riding a three-game losing streak and is 1-9 SU over the last 10 games.
It's a battle for a top draft pick, but Toronto will be without Maria Conde, Julie Allemand, Marina Mabrey, Brittney Sykes, and Aneesah Morrow. That's a bulk of Sandy Brondello's roster, so really is 6.5 a fair spread?
To Toronto's credit, they last lost to the Aces by just 10 points and Kia Nurse delivered 19 points off the bench. But with so many injuries, Brondello will have very limited depth tonight, which is a major factor in why I chose Seattle to cover.
Overall, Seattle is 20-16 ATS this season and 12-6 ATS at home. And although they are on the wrong side of winning, they lost to the Fire and Sky by a combined four points. On paper, Seattle has a much healthier team currently, especially with the frontcourt of Ezi Magbegor, Awa Fam, and Dominique Malonga. I could see Seattle having a field day in the paint today.
The only question mark is Flau'jae Johnson, who is listed as questionable with an ankle injury. If she is able to play, I like the Storm's home matchup and the fact they are a more efficient team on the defensive end. Even without injuries, the Tempo have the WNBA's worst defensive rating (115.3).
