In Uncasville, Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream (20-12, 8-7 away) will face Brittney Griner and the Connecticut Sun (8-23, 5-10 home). Connecticut is all but eliminated from the playoffs in its final season at Mohegan Sun. With a 1-5 record in their last six games, the Sun are 10.5-point underdogs at home tonight.
Conversely, the Dream rank fifth in the standings and are 7-3 over the last 10 games. Head-to-head, Atlanta is 1-0 against Connecticut in 2026 and 7-3 vs. the Sun over their last 10 meetings.
Next up, the WNBA will continue to celebrate its 30th anniversary with the Los Angeles Sparks (12-20, 7-9 away) and New York Liberty (20-14, 11-5 home). Featuring two of the WNBA's eight original teams, tonight's matchup highlights New York as 8.5-point spread favorites.
The Sparks are all but eliminated from the playoffs post-Kelsey Plum era, and the Liberty hold the last and final playoff spot. Just days after waiving Betnijah Laney-Hamilton to the Washington Mystics, the Liberty recently fell to Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, 106-92.
Last, the red-hot Washington Mystics (19-13, 8-7 away) will face the Las Vegas Aces (23-11, 10-5 home) on the road. Led by WNBA MVP front-runner A'ja Wilson, the Aces rank third in the standings and enter today's matchup as 6.5-point favorites at home.
Led by Sonia Citron, Kiki Iriafen, and Shakira Austin, the young Mystics core are 7-1 over the last eight games and are the current sixth seed. As the season winds down, Washington remains three games back of Las Vegas for the No. 3 seed. In other words, this is an important matchup for both teams.

Let's take a look at my best bets, player prop picks, and predictions for the WNBA games on Thursday, August 13. My bets include a mix of player props and spread predictions from DraftKings, Fanatics, and FanDuel Sportsbook.

Today I'm locking in the Atlanta Dream to cover the 10.5-point spread on the road against the Connecticut Sun.
Ranking fifth in the standings at 20-12, the Dream are just 3.5 games back of the Golden State Valkyries for second and two games behind the Aces for the No. 3 seed. As mentioned previously, this game is high-stakes.
I know the Dream have been terrible covering, posting an 11-21 record ATS. However, on paper, Atlanta should take care of Connecticut no problem. The Dream are 5-10 ATS on the road, but are 20-12 SU against teams below .500.
I like the value here at -105 on DraftKings. They were unable to cover 9.5 against the Sparks and the 12.5 favorable spread against Chicago. However, the Dream last defeated the Sun on June 2, 91-75. In this case, they covered the 13.5-point spread.
In fact, Atlanta is 4-0 ATS against Connecticut since September 2025. Since then, we've seen the Dream cover some fairly large spreads. In those four games, the Dream have been favored by an average north of 12.5 points. They covered the 13.5, 12.5, 15, and 10.5-point spreads.
And yes, I know the Dream offense can be stagnant at times. However, we are talking about a team that ranks No. 4 in defensive rating (105.6). This time around, Connecticut will be without Aneesah Morrow, who was traded to the Toronto Tempo. Now, Brittney Griner is questionable (Knee).
Atlanta has a 2-2 record since its five-game winning streak. While they are just 2-8 ATS over the last 10 games, we have to compare the stardom of this team. Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, Angel Reese and Brionna Jones should be more than enough to power through Connecticut.
Also, one could argue that Connecticut hasn't been great covering the spread. They are 1-5 ATS over the last six games, and couldn't cover as 11.5-point underdogs against the Dallas Wings. Over that stretch, they failed to cover the 10.5-point spread against the Indiana Fever and 5.5-point spread against the Chicago Sky.
Plus, the Sun are 2-11 against Eastern Conference teams and score a league-low 79.7 points per game with a -7.1 point differential. Compare that against Atlanta, who boasts a 10-4 record against Eastern Conference teams with a +3.6 point differential. While I stated the offense can stall at times, the Dream are putting up the fifth-most points per game in the WNBA (89.6).
Defensively, Jordin Canada, Allisha Gray, and Rhyne Howard are ruthless. Through 32 games, Atlanta allows just 86 points per game, which ranks fourth-best in the WNBA. Combine that defense with a lack of offense on Connecticut's end.
In their last matchup, Rhyne Howard exploded for 36 points and Allisha Gray for 26. Not only did Connecticut have trouble defending the perimeter, but the Dream shot 14-of-37 (38%) from three. Yes, you read that correctly, 37 3-point attempts.
Overall, Connecticut did not shoot well (4-of-17 from three) and left several points at the line. Not only did they get outrebounded, but they lost the battle with fast break points. It's important to note that Morrow did lead the Sun with 20 points, and now she's departed from the team.
Also, the Dream won by 16 points and the bench produced zero points. Now they have Bri Jones back for this matchup against her former team.
For my second-best bet, I'm taking Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu to record over 18.5 points against the Sparks.
It's been a rollercoaster ride for Ionescu, who's been limited to just 22 games due to injuries. Starting 21 of those, she's averaging 15.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists, while shooting 42.5% from the field and 33.6% from beyond the arc.
Aside from a poor outing against the Aces on August 9, Ionescu has been on fire. Excluding that game, she's averaged 20.1 points per game over the last eight games, while shooting 53.1% from the field and 40.4% from three. In that span, Ionescu is logging an average of 32.4 minutes per game with 14.1 field goal attempts.
Ionescu should have plenty of looks today. After all, the Liberty remain without Satou Sabally and Leonie Fiebich, and waived Betnijah Laney-Hamilton.
Therefore, I'm not worried about minutes, and the shot volume is there. Although a non-factor in the first outing against LA, Ionescu delivered 27 points, while shooting 9-of-16, 5-of-9 from three, and 4-of-4 from the line against the Sparks on July 28.
While the Sparks were without former guard Kelsey Plum, Ionescu was efficient in cutting, hitting threes off screens, and took advantage of poor rotation and defensive communication. Particularly, screen navigation was on point.
Plus, it helps that Ionescu has developed an interior game instead of simply 3-point shooting.
Although Ionescu has cleared this player prop line just twice over the last five games, she's cleared this line in three of the last five matchups against the Sparks dating back to July 2025. In that span, she's scored 20, 30, and 27 points.
I like this matchup specifically because of the matchup tonight. The Sparks have disappointed with a 12-20 record, traded Plum, and post the second-worst defensive rating in the WNBA (112.8). Furthermore, the Sparks allow the most points to guards per game (48.2).
I know Ionescu's shooting percentages have dipped from last season, but this is a Sparks team that recently gave up 24, 27, and 21 points to Bridget Carleton, Sabrina Ionescu, and Kahleah Copper.
For my third-best bet, I am taking Shakira Austin to score over 16.5 points against the Aces.
Austin is making her case for All-WNBA as she earned the WNBA's Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Aug. 11.
A top WNBA center this season, Austin has been shredding opposing defenses. Through 31 games she's averaging 16.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.4 blocks, while shooting 47.3% from the field and 36.4% from beyond the arc.
In August, Austin has recorded three double-doubles, averaging 21.8 points, while shooting 50.8% from the field and 37.5% from three over the last four games. Even with Lauren Betts and Iriafen, Austin is putting up nearly 16 shot attempts per game.
It's not like Austin hasn't seen the Aces. The Mystics recently played them on August 11. It was a tough matchup for Austin, as A'ja Wilson is a difficult opponent. Nevertheless, she still finished with 20 points on 8-of-21 shooting and 4-of-4 from the line.
If she scored 20 points last game shooting that poorly, will Austin have a repeat performance? In the Mystics' 100-99 victory over the Aces in July, Austin exploded for 25 points with a late 3-pointer. In a battle with Wilson, she shot 10-of-18 and 5-of-9 from the line in 29 minutes.
In that matchup, Shakira was cooking against Wilson, but was also finding the mismatches. Especially over NaLyssa Smith inside. The and-ones kept on coming.
I can't see a world where Austin doesn't clear this player prop tonight. She's soared over this line in five straight games, averaging 23.0 points over that span. Plus, she's posting an average of 21.0 points per game over the last three games against the Aces.
