WNBA Best Bets Today: Player Props for Marina Mabrey and Kayla Thornton (June 12)

Publish Date: Jun 12, 2026
Fact checked by: Matt Moreno
Key Points
  • Two WNBA games on the card tonight, with Toronto visiting the nations's captial and Golden State playing in Seattle.
  • Kayla Thornton is averaging 6.5 rebounds per game in the last four contests.
  • Marina Mabrey has made three or more 3-pointers in seven of 12 games this season.

There are just two games on the WNBA card for Friday, as the Toronto Tempo hit the road after Wednesday's wild overtime win over the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday for an Eastern Conference showdown with the Washington Mystics. In the Western Conference, it's the Golden State Valkyries heading to the Pacific Northwest to battle the Seattle Storm.

All four teams are eliminated from Commissioner's Cup contention, so the big focus is jockeying for position in the overall standings, as it's never too soon to start thinking about the playoff race. Golden State and Toronto would be in the playoffs if they started tonight, Washington is holding out hope for a surge, and the Storm might soon be planning for the 2027 WNBA Draft.

WNBA Best Bets: Friday's Top Player Props

Both games feature players who have been playing very well, and offer some enticing prices on the prop sheet. The expansion Tempo have been playing as if they've been playing with one another for years, the Mystics have shown us flashes of competitiveness, the Valkyries have defensive stalwarts, and, for as tough as the season it's been, the Storm still has their share of ballers.

I've got vested interest in both games tonight, as there are a few props that stand out. Here are my top three prop plays from these matchups:

(Odds via FanDuel)

Marina Mabrey 3+ made 3-pointers (-130)

Marina Mabrey is chucking up a team-high 8.3 attempts from beyond the 3-point line and leads the Tempo with 2.8 made 3-pointers. She's made three or more treys in seven of 12 games this season, and arrives in D.C. after burying four 3-pointers in the overtime win against Connecticut. In the season-opener against these same Mystics, she canned three from long distance.

Now she's facing a defense that allowed 9.5 treys per game, third most in the WNBA. The Mystics were just torched by the Fever for 10 3-pointers, and have allowed double-digit treys in five of their 10 games. Mabrey is a career 30 percent 3-point shooter against Washington, and if there is a defense she will be able to light things up against, it'll be this one.

Kayla Thornton 6+ rebounds (-112)

Kayla Thornton leads the Valkyries with 5.4 rebounds per game, and when she's faced the Storm, she's averaged 4.7 boards per contest. No, neither of those numbers gets us over the threshold tonight. But the fact that she's grabbed an average of 6.5 rebounds per game in the last four contests tells me she's starting to feel a bit of power near the rim.

Also, the Storm are allowing opponents 37.4 rebounds per game — second highest in the league — I can see Thornton bringing her Windex to Seattle. She's grabbing six or more in this one.

Brittney Sykes OVER 23.5 points + assists (-114)

Until she gives me a reason to shy away from her superlatives, I'm always looking for value with Brittney Sykes. She took care of us the other night with points, and Friday I think she's going over the points and assists total when the Tempo visit the Mystics.

Washington commits the most turnovers in the WNBA, with 15.7 per game. Knowing coach Sandy Brondello, she is preaching points off turnovers, and nobody better to depend on than the hot hand of Sykes. She is averaging 21.6 points and 3.5 assists per contest. That puts us at 25.1. Factor in a couple of steals from Sykes and running the flow in transition, she's going to get a few more assists than usual.
