The Washington Mystics (2-3) will host the Indiana Fever (2-2) at home tonight. Initially moved to CFG Bank Arena, located in Baltimore, Maryland—the venue has a capacity of 14,000 fans.
Tonight, the Fever will be without their biggest star, Caitlin Clark—who suffered a left quad strain. While she's expected to be sidelined for a minimum of two weeks, this will be the real test for Indiana.
This is the first time Caitlin Clark will miss a game in both her collegiate and professional career in the WNBA. Per Fever head coach Stephanie White, veteran guard Syd Colson will get the starting nod tonight.
Coming off a heartbreaking 90-88 home loss against the reigning champion New York Liberty, the Fever are 4.5 point spread favorites on the road tonight.
2-2 on the season, the Fever have captured victories over the Chicago Sky and Atlanta Dream. According to Indiana, the Fever's 92-58 triumph over the Sky was the second-largest margin of victory in franchise history.
There's no doubt the Fever's offense will take a slight hit with Clark out of the lineup. Averaging 19 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 9.3 assists on the season—the Fever temporarily lost their main staple. Known for her deep logo 3-pointers, Clark leads the WNBA in assists and is one of the best facilitators in the league. Either way, the Fever made several free agency splashes and acquisitions to build around Clark. This is an extremely talented team.
Perhaps the most surprising team this year has been the Washington Mystics. With a gutsy 94-90 victory over Atlanta Dream in the season opener, Washington went on to defeat the Connecticut Sun, 90-85. Although they've suffered three consecutive losses to the Valkyries, Aces and Mercury—all of their games have been within reach.
Having drafted both Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron, Paige Bueckers isn't on her own island in the Rookie of the Year race. Both Iriafen and Citron have impressed early on in the season.

My first bet for tonight, I placed one unit on Fever guard Lexie Hull to record over 9.5 points against the Washington Mystics.
Having played in Unrivaled this offseason, Hull has elevated her game to new heights. While she's always been an underrated two-way player, she's one of the best defenders in the WNBA. Not only that, Hull is a flamethrower, and is known for those sneaky back door cuts.
I'm expecting Hull to take a step up with Clark out of the lineup. Coming off the bench for the most part, Hull is averaging a solid 10 points in 26.3 minutes. Coming off 26 minutes against the Liberty, Hull logged a season high 29 minutes against the Dream last week.
Eclipsing 10+ points in two of four games this season, Hull is coming off 15 points in 26 minutes in the 90-88 loss against the Liberty. Mind you, Hull shot 6-9 from the field, and 2-2 from deep against Liberty team that ranks No.1 in defensive rating (92.2).
Fifth on the Fever in points per game, it was Hull who was a crucial part of the Fever's 30-13 third quarter domination over New York. With nine third quarter points, she's seen extensive minutes off the bench.
Given Hull is shooting at such a high percentage, I'm not worried about her 7.5 field goal attempts per game. Fourth on the Fever with 2.3 3-point attempts per game, I'm expecting these numbers to increase. Boasting the third best 3-point percentage in the WNBA, Hull will get a shot tonight against a gritty Mystics team.
Although the Mystics rank No. 7 in defensive rating (98.5), they ironically boast the the most efficient perimeter defense in the WNBA—limiting opponents to 26.6 percent from beyond the arc. With that, they lead the league in opponent field goal percentage (36.9 %).
Over the first five games, Washington allowed Dream guards Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray to combine for 36 points. Against Golden State, Veronica Burton erupted for a career-high 22 points in a barn burner of a matchup.
Most recent, Aces guards Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray combined for 42 points. Last matchup, Mercury guard Monique Akoa Makani erupted for 13 points. Rookie Sonia Citron has been two-way force—but guards are playing well against the Mystics this year.
With an expanded roll, Hull is coming off a combined 25 points over the last two games. With 16 field goal attempts over the last two games, Hull has at least 7+ shot attempts in three of four games this season. Mind you, that's with Caitlin Clark in the lineup.
GP: 4 | PPG: 15.4| FG: 53.2 % | FT: 89.5 % | 3PT : 47.6 % | REB: 3.4 | AST: 2.6 | STL: 0.8 | BLK: 0.4
My second best bet for tonight, I placed one unit on Mystics rookie Sonia Citron to record over 13.5 points vs the Indiana Fever.
The Mystics drafted Citron and expected her to be an immediate contributor. She's done so, and with that, has fit in flawlessly. Leading all rookies with 15.4 points per game, Citron is a difference maker on both sides of the court.
Since then, Citron has become a steady, consistent scorer for the Mystics, recording 14+ points in four of five games this season. I'm sure that will decrease a bit with the return of Shakira Austin and Aaliyah Edwards. Until then, I'll keep riding this player prop.
As the season has progressed, Citron had impressive outings against the Aces and Mercury. A two-way threat, Citron recorded 19 points, on 6-11 shooting against the Aces. Sure, Las Vegas struggles defensively—but putting up those caliber of numbers against two-time champions is impressive.
Logging 30+ minutes in back-to-back games for head coach Sydney Johnson, Citron poured in 14 points on 5-8 field goal shooting in the 68-62 loss against the Mercury.
The Mystics second leading scorer behind Brittney Sykes, Citron is only averaging 9.4 field goal and 4.2 3-point attempts per game. What makes me confident in this prop is her ability to consistently score at high percentages. I mean, what rookie shoots 47.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 52.3 percent from the field? Her efficiency, shot selection, and ability to move the rock is what stands out.
With Shakira Austin questionable to lace up tonight, it's unknown if she will remain under a minutes restriction. Even so, it won't be an easy task for Citron.
With the increasing minutes, I'm optimistic Citron has 16 3-point attempts over the last three games. With back-to-back 11 field goal attempts against the Valkyries and Aces—she should see an increase tonight. If there's one thing about the Fever, they love to play fast, and push the pace. Hence, they rank No. 1 in pace. I expect plenty of scoring tonight.
Overall, this is a Fever team that allowed Liberty guards Sabrina Ionescu and Natasha Cloud to combine for 39 points. Not to mention, Rhyne Howard erupted for 24 points the matchup before. In two games against the Fever this season, Howard scored for a combined 44 points—and Allisha Gray—27.
My third best bet for today, I placed one unit on the Indiana Fever to cover the -4 point favorable spread on the road vs the Mystics.
With a 3-2 ATS record on the season, the Mystics have far exceeded expectations early in the season. The addition of rookies Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen have been spectacular in the absence of Shakira Austin and Aaliyah Edwards.
Although Sykes is only shooting 34.4 percent from the field and 29.4 percent from deep, her ability to attack down hill aggressive is impressive. Since their victories over the Dream and Connecticut, they've kept games fairly close. In fact, the Mystics covered a massive 15 point underdog spread in the 75-72 loss against the Aces. In the most recent 68-62 loss against the Mercury, the Mystics kept it a six point game.
They single handedly had the most impressive offseason—wheeling and dealing to build Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston. With that, the Fever brought in former Connecticut Sun head coach Stephanie White. In addition, Indiana added Sophie Cunningham, Syd Colson, DeWanna Bonner, and Natasha Howard. Most importantly, the organization re-signed guard Kelsey Mitchell to solidify the trio of Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, and Mitchell.
Aforementioned, there's no doubt the offensive rhythm will take a hit without Clark. However, we saw the Fever pick up the slack against the Liberty, where Clark produced just seven first half points. Aside from Clark, the Fever have four players that are averaging points in double figures—Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, Natasha Howard, and Lexie Hull.
Not to mention, Boston is having a breakout season, averaging 18.5 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game. Although she's mainly established a two-player game with Clark, Boston has risen her game to new heights.
Although this is a team that's still gelling under a new system and head coach, they are second in the WNBA with 88 points per game. Boasting the third best field goal percentage in the WNBA (46.1 %), the Fever remain the top rebounding team in the league (39.5). Mentioned before, this is a team that loves to push the pace, and leads the WNBA in that category.
The key question is how can the Fever get DeWanna Bonner involved more? Averaging just 2.5 points per game, that's uncharacteristic of Bonner. We are talking about a player who averaged 13+ points over the last five seasons with the Connecticut Sun. Additionally, can Natasha Howard step up?
With Syd Colson set to start at point guard for the Fever, there are a ton of questions about chemistry and rotations without Clark. However, I would like to think the Fever defense will take care of the Mystics tonight. Although the Washington Mystics don't have much to lose, the pressure remains on the Fever.
So far, the Fever hold a second best +9.2 point differential in the WNBA. In both losses against the Dream and Liberty, the outcome was determined by two points or less! Although on the road, this is a team that handled the Dream by five points on their home court, and destroyed the Sky, 93-58.
The Mystics look to break a three game skid, yet have managed to keep the last three games within three points or less. In those losses, the Mystics are averaging 69 points per game. Overall, Washington is averaging only 78.4 points per game, although they are one of the most efficient perimeter shooting teams (38.1 %).
