Up next for the Fever is the struggling Washington Mystics, whom they beat twice already this season. The Mystics are coming off a heartbreaking 74-67 loss to the Minnesota Lynx over the weekend.
After being down by as many as 16, Washington fought back to take a 57-55 lead after the third but ultimately ran out of steam in the fourth to drop its second game in a row.
Will the Mystics learn to close out games and finally beat the Fever this season? Or will Caitlin Clark and the rest of the Fever continue its mastery over the Mystics?
Let’s find out how the bookmakers see this match playing our comprehensive Indiana Fever vs. Washington Mystics sports betting predictions.
Consistency has been an issue for the Indiana Fever all season long. After recording four straight wins last month, the Fever has only won two of their last five games.
To be fair to the Fever, their last three losses came at the hands of top teams such as the Chicago Sky, the Seattle Storm, and the Las Vegas Aces.
The Washington Mystics, on the other hand, is anything but a top team.
In their last win, the Fever got 22 points each from Aaliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell while Caitlin Clark contributed 18 points and 12 rebounds.
The Mystics will also be missing starting guard Karlie Samuelson in this match.
With Samuelson and a host of Washington’s big guns out against Indiana, expect the Fever to impose its dominance against the Mystics who are among the worst offensive and defensive teams in the league.
For context, Washington is ranked 10th and 11th in the league in offense and defense respectively. All things considered, backing the Indiana Fever to cover the spread at these odds could appeal to some punters, especially with how the Mystics currently look.
The Washington Mystics haven’t had an encouraging year. They are last in the standings. They are one of the worst offensive and defensive teams in the league. But it’s not all doom and gloom for the Mystics this season, especially when it comes to covering the spread.
Currently, the Washington Mystics hold a 14-7-1 ATS record, which is better than powerhouse teams such as the New York Liberty, the Minnesota Lynx, and the Las Vegas Aces.
They will be taking on an Indiana team who is average when it comes to covering the spread.
But for the Mystics to cover the spread and give themselves a chance against the Fever, they will need other players to step up, especially former Iowa State guard Julie Vanloo.
In their last defeat against the Lynx, every Mystics player hit the score sheet except for the 31-year old Vanloo who was held scoreless on zero-for-nine shooting from the field.
Should Atkins and Vanloo get going, backing Washington to cover the spread at these current odds might be attractive for punters considering their ATS history this season.
One would argue that betting on these two teams would be fool’s gold especially with how inconsistent they were in their past five games.
However, taking into account their head-to-head history and the injury-bug in Washington, I am leaning towards the Indiana Fever to cover the spread and pick up its 10th win of the season in front of their home fans.
