The Los Angeles Sparks look to snap a four-game losing streak while the Connecticut Sun hope to sustain its winning momentum as they battle this Tuesday, September 10, 2024 inside the world-renowned Crypto.com Arena.
This is the second meeting in three days between the Sparks and the Sun. Just last Sunday, the Sun beat the Sparks 79-67 thanks to a massive 24-9 fourth quarter run.
Early Los Angeles Sparks vs Connecticut Sun betting lines suggest a similar outcome. But, first let’s see what went wrong and what went right for both squads last Sunday.
Connecticut is the better team on paper but that does not mean Los Angeles has no chance of pulling off the upset. Keep scrolling as we take a look at the form of both squads heading into this matchup.
Since their 94-88 upset victory over the New York Liberty last August 29, the Los Angeles Sparks have seemingly struggled to regain its winning form. Across its past four games, the Sparks have lost by an average margin of 12.8 points.
With how things are going, finding something positive in Los Angeles’ camp has been a struggle but there’s actually a light at the end of the tunnel for the Sparks here against the Connecticut Sun.
In fact, the Sun is 11-15 ATS when bookmakers have them as the favorites. For context, Connecticut heads into this matchup against Los Angeles as the 10-point favorites.
What’s even more impressive is that the Sparks did it away from home.
All things considered, it’s not actually far-fetched to see the Los Angeles Sparks cover the spread here, especially with how they performed against Connecticut in their previous meetings this season.
Albeit last Sunday’s game, the Sparks have shown everyone they don’t fall down easily, making the +10 spread at these current odds an attractive punt.
After hitting a minor roadblock, the Connecticut Sun returned to the win column in a big way with a 79-67 demolition of the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday. They will face the same Sparks team again at the same venue and bookmakers seem to expect a similar result, having them as the 10-point favorites here.
One thing that needs to happen in this matchup though is forward Dewanna Bonner looking for her offense more.
Other than Bonner, Connecticut’s bench also needs to step up in this game. Against Los Angeles last Sunday, sweet shooting guard Marina Mabrey was the only Sun player off the bench to score.
Should Bonner and the rest of Connecticut starters get their usual numbers and the offensive support from its bench, backing them to win by double digits once again at these current odds could offer a great value.
It is also worth noting that the Sun have beaten the Sparks in their past 12 meetings.
The Connecticut Sun is the better team on paper. However, considering the performances of the Los Angeles Sparks against this Sun team this season, I am more inclined towards picking the home team to cover the spread.
Another thing of note is that Los Angeles covered in three of their past five encounters. Give me the Sparks and the free points.
