The WNBA is back and there are four games scheduled for today's slate! In this article, I will lock in my favorite player prop bets for Wednesday, August 5.

Starting off the night are the Phoenix Mercury (12-19, 7-9 away) and the Atlanta Dream (18-11, 10-5 home). Not only did the Mercury trade for superstar Kelsey Plum at the 2026 WNBA trade deadline, but Plum had quite the debut for Phoenix. She delivered 20 points in 20 minutes, including a game-sealing 3-pointer in the 106-101 victory over the Chicago Sky on Monday.

Phoenix has a big mountain to climb, as they are 5.5 games behind the Washington Mystics for the eighth and final playoff spot. They now get a Dream team, whose five-game winning streak was crushed by the Las Vegas Aces, 109-87. Having dropped to the sixth spot at 18-11, Angel Reese and the Dream are 5.5-point favorites tonight at home.

Next up, Flau'jae Johnson and the Seattle Storm (6-26, 2-15 away) will face Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty (18-13, 9-5 home). Seattle is all but eliminated from the playoffs despite young talent in Dominique Malonga, Awa Fam, Johnson, and Natisha Hiedeman. Riding a nine-game losing streak, the Storm will once again match up against the Liberty on the road for the second time in two days.

WNBA Player Prop Bets Today

It's been a disappointing season thus far for the Liberty, who have a strong team on paper. New York chose to stay pat at the trade deadline, failing to trade Betnijah Laney-Hamilton. Marred by injuries, New York sits above .500 and defeated the Storm 95-83 on Monday. Today, the Liberty are 8.5-point favorites at home.

Set to take place in the nation's capital, Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings (19-11, 10-6 away) get Sonia Citron and the Washington Mystics (16-12, 8-6 home). Washington moves up in the standings as they are in the midst of a four-game win streak. Conversely, the Wings did not make any moves at the trade deadline and have lost two of the last three games.

It was just five days ago that the Mystics defeated the Wings 81-75 on their home court. Now they get another matchup and enter tonight's contest as 2.5-point underdogs against Dallas.

Last, the Los Angeles Sparks (11-17, 6-8 away) will face the Chicago Sky (11-19, 7-8 home). Both teams have history as the Sparks notably traded Rickea Jackson (ACL tear) to the Sky in exchange for Ariel Atkins. It's also important to note that Azura Stevens returned to the Sky in free agency, but remains out. With the season series split 1-1, the Sky are 2.5-point favorites today.

Let's take a look at my best bets and player prop predictions for the August 5 WNBA games.

Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook

WNBA Player Props Bets (August 5)

  • Angel Reese OVER 11.5 Rebounds (-125 Fanatics)
  • Sydney Taylor 3+ Made Threes (+125 Fanatics)
  • Shakira Austin 26+ Points + Rebounds (-125 Fanatics)

Phoenix Mercury vs. Atlanta Dream Player Prop Bets

Angel Reese OVER 11.5 Rebounds

I locked in Angel Reese over 11.5 rebounds as my first player prop bet today. Once again Reese is near the top of the standings, ranking second in the WNBA with 11.8 rebounds per game.

It's no secret Atlanta is one of the best teams on the glass, and that's largely due to Reese and Brionna Jones. Speaking of Jones, she's back in the lineup, but is still on an average minutes restriction of 17.0 per game. So really, I'm expecting Reese to feast on the boards today.

Considered one of the best rebounders in the WNBA, Reese has recorded three straight double-doubles, and is fresh off a season-high 16 rebounds against A'ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces.

It's hard to fade a player who's tallied 10+ rebounds over the last three games. posting an average of 13.7 rebounds over that span. May I add that Reese has been extraordinary on the offensive glass. Recording back-to-back six offensive rebounds, Reese is averaging just over 5.2 offensive rebounds per game over the last four games.

Reese is truly in the perfect spot in Atlanta. She can stretch the floor on offense, although her 3-point shot needs improvement. However, she cleans up and is surrounded by shooters in Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, and more.

Hence, why the Dream are the WNBA leaders in offensive rebounds per game (11.2).

I like Reese's matchup here with Natasha Mack/DeWanna Bonner. The Mercury didn't exactly add frontcourt depth, although they traded for superstar Kelsey Plum.

Final WNBA Betting Prediction: Angel Reese OVER 11.5 Rebounds (-125 Fanatics)

As a result, the Mercury average the fourth-fewest rebounds per game (31.5) and rank dead last in offensive boards per game (7.0). While Mack is a force inside, Phoenix lacks size other teams have. Overall, they allow the sixth most rebounds per game (33.8) and second-most offensive rebounds per game (6.1).

To me, this is a match made in heaven for Reese. She's heating up at the right time, and Phoenix is a less forgiving team when it comes to opponent second-chance points (10.9).

  • In her lone game against the Mercury, Reese tallied a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. I'm locking in Angel Reese to record over 11.5 rebounds. Phoenix often plays positionless basketball and Madina Okot is losing minutes for the Dream. Kamilla Cardoso is fresh off 13 rebounds against Phoenix and Reese has cleared this line in five of the last six games. Over that span, she's averaging 11.8 boards.Β

Dallas Wings vs. Washington Mystics Player Prop Bets

Shakira Austin 26+ Points + Rebounds

For my second-best bet, I took Shakira Austin to record 26+ points and rebounds against the Dallas Wings.

Dallas failed to make a move at the trade deadline. After the Mystics defeated the Wings 81-75 on Friday, head coach Jose Fernandez made a change in the starting lineup. Ultimately, he swapped Awak Kuier for Alanna Smith.

Why is this relevant? Not only did Dallas lost to Washington recently, but the Mystics destroyed them in the paint, 40-24. Specifically, Shakira Austin torched the Wings' frontcourt for 28 points and 10 rebounds in 25 minutes.

No one could stop the 6-foot-5 Austin. Not Jessica Shepard, Li Yueru, or Kuier. It's likely that Fernandez will start Smith tonight against Washington.

Smith is an upgrade for Dallas, who is the former Co-Defensive Player of the Year. However, she's struggled this season, especially with injuries.Β  Here's why Austin is a lock for tonight.

There are not too many bigs in the WNBA who can stop Austin: She has the strength, size, toughness, and length to beat anyone. And even with Kiki Iriafen in the lineup, she's killed opposing defenses. This season, she's averaging 15.5 points and 9.4 rebounds, good for almost a double-double.

Since July, Austin has been on a tear. She's coming off a season-high 28 points and put up 19.8 points and 9.8 rebounds last month, good for a combined average of 29.6 points and rebounds over the last 10 games. Plus, how can I fade a player who's shooting 50.3% from the field and 35.3% from three over that span? I simply can't here.

Final WNBA Betting Prediction: Shakira Austin 26+ Points + Rebounds (-125 Fanatics)

Regardless of the lineup change, the Wings lack frontcourt rim protection and allow the fifth-most opponent rebounds per game (34). In addition, they allow the second-most points to centers. As we've seen, Shakira Austin (38) and Angel Reese (34) well cleared this points and rebounds player prop line recently.

  • Plus, the Wings allow the third-most paint points per game (41.7) and the Mystics are a heavy paint presence team with 41.6 paint points per game. In fact, Austin ranks top 15 in interior points per game with 9.4 per game. In 2026, she's shooting 62% in the restricted area and 34.6% in the paint. Those are her two sweet spots, and two areas Dallas fails to defend. I love this matchup tonight, I'm taking Shakira Austin to record 26+ points and rebounds against a weak Dallas frontcourt.

Los Angeles Sparks vs. Chicago Sky Player Prop Bets

Sydney Taylor 3+ Made Threes

For my third-best bet, I locked in Sydney Taylor to record 3+ made threes against the Los Angeles Sparks.

Taylor is one of the most exciting undrafted rookies that the WNBA has seen in a while. She was electric in preseason and her momentum has carried over to the season. In fact, she's the spark the Sky so badly needed.

Starting 17 games for the Sky, Taylor is averaging 14.7 points, while shooting 35.5% from three this season. I will say, she is questionable with a groin injury that she suffered last game against the Phoenix Mercury.

If able to lace up, this is a great matchup for Taylor. The Sparks are trending downward, traded away Kelsey Plum, and have one of the worst defenses in history.

Not only do the Sparks rank No. 13 in defensive rating (113.1), but they also allow opponents to shoot 34.6% from three. With that said, they give up a league-high 94.3 points per game!

Final WNBA Betting Prediction: Sydney Taylor 3+ Threes Made (+125 Fanatics)

The last time Sydney faced LA, she erupted for 19 points in 26 minutes, while shooting 4-of-7 from deep. In July, she's been shooting 36.1% from three with 6.8 3-point attempts per game. In fact, she's made 3+ threes in four of the last nine games, and averaged 17.3 points, including a game-winner in July.

  • Taylor is fearless, can shoot contested, in transition, and lets it fly. If she's able to play, this prop has great value for plus-money. The Sparks allow the most points and 3-pointers to guards this season. Let's take Sydney Taylor to light it up for 3+ threes tonight. She's cleared this line in five of the last six games, averaging 3.5 made threes over the last six games.Β
