Three games highlight the WNBA card, with two early games tipping at 7:30 p.m. Eastern and being shown regionally on ION. The Dallas Wings are in Toronto for a second time in less than a week. At the same time, also on League Pass, the surging Golden State Valkyries will visit the improving Connecticut Sun. Both games can also be found on WNBA League Pass.
The nightcap could be the most entertaining of the night, as the suddenly entertaining Chicago Sky visit the Los Angeles Sparks, who snapped a three-game skid on Wednesday, when they beat the Indiana Fever, 106-92, in Caitlin Clark's brief return. The Sky went into Phoenix on Tuesday and beat the Mercury, 77-66, their third victory in five games. That game tips at 10 p.m. ET is also on ION and League Pass.

Here are the odds for Friday's games (odds via FanDuel)
Let's start by acknowledging the No. 1 scoring defense in the WNBA, and with that, the Valkyries arrive in Connecticut riding a six-game win streak. Now they're facing a slowly improving Sun team that has gone from averaging 78.1 points per game in their 2-14 start to 85.0 ppg during a 3-3 spurt. But in 11 games against Eastern Conference foes this season, the Valkyries are allowing 17.1 first-quarter points this season - the only team allowing fewer than 18.5 points in the opening period.
And here's the irony, the Sun average 21.3 points per first quarter this season. But, that's dropped by two points during their last six games. Their offense has come around by the second half, thanks to early defensive efforts. And while the Valks average a league-worst 19.8 points in the opening stanza, that number has plummeted to 13.7 in three July games. This line has been vulnerable all morning and moved while this article was being written. There's a chance you can find this between 38 and 40.
Jessica Shepard has gone over 12 rebounds in eight of 22 games this season. In fact, she just snatched 15 when the teams met five days ago in this same arena. She's averaging 12.6 in her last five games, and with an All-Star nomination bolstering her play, there's a good chance she replicates her performance from Sunday.
Yes, Dallas is playing its fourth straight road game, but that's stretched over nine nights, and they've all been in the same time zone. Not big trouble, and plenty of rest. They haven't played since Tuesday, so Shepard will have her legs beneath her. The Tempo still have Nyara Sabally listed as questionable, and even if she joins Isabelle Harrison in the paint, I don't know if they can bottle up Shepard to keep her off the glass. Besides, Toronto allows the opposition to grab 35.2 rebounds per game — fourth most in the WNBA.
Though we all know Olivia Miles is the frontrunner for Rookie of the Year, and Azzi Fudd could make a late run to challenge that, don't be shocked when Sydney Taylor creeps into the conversation. She's scored in double figures in eight of the last nine games, including 16 in Phoenix, against a very physical and aggressive defense. Since June 11, she's second only to Miles (19.6) with 17.9 points per game. Taylor couldn't ask for a better opportunity to shine than tonight, as the Sparks rank 14th in allowing the second-most field goal attempts (43.5) to guards, including 17.2 3-point attempts, also the second-highest. Through June 10, the Sparks were allowing guards to take 45.3 field-goal attempts, and a league-high 18.6 shots from 3-point range. Since then, there's been a slight uptick with Los Angeles allowing guards to shoot 46.2 shots from the floor.
Los Angeles ranks dead last in allowing opposing guards to score 58.2 ppg. Even at home, it's not that big of a difference, as they're allowing backcourt demons to score 57.2 ppg. So, in ranking No. 1 with 2.8 3-pointers per game since June 11, having hit two or more 3-pointers in seven of those nine games to help bolster her game tallies, she is poised to have a big night. A play on her 3-pointers made could be a bonus (Over 2.5, +138), but we like her to soar past her point total against the worst scoring defense in basketball, as the Sparks are giving up 93.6 ppg.
