First up, the Washington Mystics (16-19, 6-11) will once again square off against the Connecticut Sun (7-27, 5-12 home) at Mohegan Sun Arena. Eliminated from playoff contention for the first time since 2016, the Sun are coming off a gritty 80-69 victory over the Mystics on Tuesday.
With promising young talent in Leila Lacan, Saniya Rivers, and Aneesah Morrow, the Sun gets a Mystics team who are just 1.5 games back of the Seattle Storm for the eighth and final playoff seed. Overall, the books are expecting a close matchup, despite Connecticut being eliminated from the playoffs. Led by rookies Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen, the Mystics are slim 2.5-point spread and -135 moneyline favorites on the road.
Next up, Angel Reeese and the Chicago Sky (8-26, 3-13 away) will face Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty (22-13, 14-4 home) in Brooklyn. A prime time matchup, the Sky were eliminated from playoff contention, and are riding a five-game losing streak. Massive 14.5-point spread and -1200 moneyline favorites, the Liberty are coming off a crucial 85-75 victory over the Minnesota Lynx.
Tied with the Atlanta Dream for the No.2 seed, every game is critical for New York down the stretch. They trail Napheesa Collier and the Lynx, who hold a firm 6.5 game lead over New York for first.
In the ATL, there's a key matchup that will feature the Minnesota Lynx (28-6, 11-5 away) and the Atlanta Dream (22-13, 10-5 home). Featuring MVP candidates Allisha Gray and Napheesa Collier, this should be highly anticipated showdown. That is, if Collier laces up. Listed as questionable, Collier has missed five straight games with an ankle injury.
Slim 3.5-point spread and +130 moneyline underdogs at home, this is an important matchup for both teams. Both so for Rhyne Howard and the Dream. However, the regular season series is tied 1-1.
Last, A'ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces (22-14, 13-5 home) will host the Phoenix Mercury (21-13, 10-7 away) in Sin City. Favored by a minimal 1.5-point spread, the books are predicting a close matchup. With the playoff seeding at stake, the Aces lead the regular seasons series 2-1, and remain tied with the Mercury for the No. 4 seed.

Let's take a look at my three best player prop bets, picks, and predictions for the August 21 WNBA matchups. I did not parlay my picks, and placed all my bets separately within FanDuel and DraftKings Sportsbook!
Are you looking to bet on WNBA player props all season long? Here at Ballislife Bets, we've gathered a complete list of the best sports betting offers here.
GP: 23 | PPG: 14.7 | FG: 50 % | FT: 76.3 % | 3PT: 46.2 % | REB: 8.7 | AST: 2.7 | STL: 0.4 | BLK: 1.2
My first best bet for today, I placed one unit on Jonquel Jones to record over 1.5 made threes against the Chicago Sky.
With playoff seeding on the line, I'm expecting a big game from Jones given Breanna Stewart, Nyara Sabally, and Isabelle Harrison still remain out with injuries. Therefore, Jones and Emma Meesseman are expected to widely hold down the frontcourt.
The Sky are out of playoff contention, however, Angel Reese has returned for Chicago. Therefore, I'm expecting Jones to bring Kamilla Cardoso out of the paint and stretch the floor tonight.
Considered one of the most elite stretch bigs in the WNBA, Jones is shooting 46.2 percent from beyond the arc this season, her best since the 2018 season.
This is an excellent matchup for Jones, who faces a Sky team who gives up the most points and 3-pointers to centers. Although the last time they gave up 2+ threes was July 22 to Alanna Smith, Jones has soared over this player prop line in the last two matchups.
Exploding for 22 points, Jones tallied 3-5 and 2-4 from deep in back-to-back matchups against the Minnesota Lynx.
Due to injury, Jonquel Jones hasn't faced the Sky since New York's 99-74 victory on May 22. Thankfully, the Sky's frontcourt hasn't changed much, and Jones recorded 11 points on 3-4 3-point shots.
Jones is having an incredible month, averaging 16.2 points, and shooting 50 percent from three on 4.0 3PA per game. Averaging exactly 2.0 3PM through nine games this month, I'm not fading this prop today.
GP: 35 | PPG: 15.3 | FG: 46.6 % | FT: 87.6 % | 3PT: 41.3 % | REB: 4.3 | AST: 2.5 | STL: 1.1 | BLK: 0.3
My second best bet for today, I placed one unit on Washington Mystics rookie Sonia Citron to record over 16.5 points against the Connecticut Sun.
Despite Paige Buecker's historic 44 point performance last night, Sonia Citron is still very much in the Rookie of the Year conversation. Second behind Bueckers in rookie points per game (15.3), Citron has more than impressed in her rookie season. Named a first-time All-Star, Citron ranks inside the 20 in points per game, and has the seventh highest 3-point percentage in the WNBA (41.3 %).
With the departure of Brittney Sykes and Aaliyah Edwards, Citron has taken on a larger role. That said, she's been on tear this month, soaring over this player prop bet in five games. In August, the rookie is averaging a season high 19 points per game, shooting 49 percent from the field, and 54.3 percent from three.
Citron is a natural born 3-level scorer, and is a silent assassin beyond the arc. With that said, she's been far more productive post All-Star break. In 13 games since, she's averaging 17.5 points while shooting 50 percent beyond the arc. Not to mention, her shot volume is only increasing. In August, Citron has tallied a season high 6.4 FGM on 13 attempts per game.
Scoring 19, 24, and 21 points against the Connecticut Sun, Los Angeles Sparks, and Indiana Fever—Citron is averaging an increased 16.5 field goal attempts over the last two games, and had 13 3-point attempts alone over that span!
Now Citron gets a back-to-back matchup with Connecticut, who she's faced three times this season. Soaring over this line just one, she's averaged 15 points all three matchups against the Sun. Logging 28.3 minutes, Citron is shooting 45.9 percent from the field against Connecticut.
While both rosters are greatly revamped since the beginning of the season, the Mystics have something to play for. Not out of contention just yet, Washington faces a Connecticut team that allows the second most points to guards.
Most recently, Kelsey Mitchell (Fever) scored 38 points, and Tiffany Hayes (Valkryies) erupted for 17 against the Sun. Connecticut does have some defensive upgrades with rookies Saniya Rivers and Leila Lacan. However, defensive juggernaut Jacy Sheldon now plays for the Mystics.
GP: 33 | PPG: 16 | FG: 41.5 % | FT: 86.2 % | 3PT: 30 % | REB: 5.8 | AST: 1.8 | STL:0.9 | BLK: 0.5
My third best bet for today, I placed one unit on Connecticut Sun legend Tina Charles to record over 5.5 rebounds against the Washington Mystics.
The Sun are officially eliminated from playoff contention, however they continue to stay in games.
With Aneesah Morrow inserted into the starting lineup, it's been Morrow and Charles holding down the frontcourt for the Sun. Averaging 5.8 rebounds per game this season, Charles has been monstrous on the boards.
Tallying 6 and 9 rebounds against the Fever and Mystics, I personally feel this player prop line is too low. Especially since Charles has crushed this prop in four straight games against the Mystics.
Even after trading away Aaliyah Edwards, the Mystics allow the third least rebounds to centers. Of course, Kiki Iriafen and Shakira Austin have been monstrous for the Mystics.
With that said, Charles has recorded 10, 9, and 9 rebound this year, averaging 9.3 rebounds per game in three games against the Mystics. One of the more consistent players for the Sun, we've seen the Mystics give up nine rebounds (Aliyah Boston), and 13 (Kamilla Cardoso) this month.
I like this matchup for Charles, who faces a Mystics team that's fallen behind on the boards. In fact, over the last 10 games, they rank dead last in the WNBA in rebounds per game (29.5 RPG).
