The reigning champion New York Liberty (19-10, 6-7 away) will face Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings (8-22, 5-10 home) in Arlington, Texas. Fresh off a two-game winning streak against the Sun and Wings, New York gets Dallas for the second time in three days. Now they face a Wings team that completely reconstructed its roster by the trade deadline. With DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smith traded to the Minnesota Lynx and Las Vegas Aces, Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale remain the main stars in Dallas. Today, the Wings are 8.5-point spread underdogs at home.
Next up, the Minnesota Lynx (25-5, 15-1 home) will host the Washington Mystics (13-16, 4-10 away) at home today. Napheesa Collier will remain out for two weeks due to an ankle sprain, yet the Lynx are tabbed as large -600 moneyline favorites. Kayla McBride has been lights out, and the Lynx now have newly acquired DiJonai Carrington.
While the Mystics remain on the fringe of playoff contention, they drastically shook up their roster this week. With Brittney Sykes and Aaliyah Edwards traded to the Seattle Storm and Connecticut Sun, the Mystics look to the future. With a 1-4 record in their last five games, Minnesota will be a tall task tonight.
For the late-night showdown, birthday girl A'ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces (16-14, 8-5 home) will host Skylar Diggins and the Seattle Storm (16-14, 8-6 away). The books are expecting tonight's matchup to be a close one, as the Aces are slim 1.5-point spread favorites. 1-4 in their last five games, newly acquired guard Brittney Sykes is expected to make her debut for the Storm today. With back-to-back victories over the Golden State Valkyries, the Aces are trending upward again.

Let's take a look at my three best player prop bets for the Friday, August 8 WNBA matchups! Be sure to read all the way through for a bonus bet at the end!
Are you looking to bet on WNBA player props all season long? Here at Ballislife Bets, we've gathered a complete list of the best sports betting offers here.
G: 2 | PPG: 12 | FG: 45 % | FT: 83.3 % | 3PT : 50 % | REB: 2.5 | AST: 2.5 | STL: 0.5| BLK: 1.5
My first player prop for today, I placed one unit on New York Liberty forward Emma Meesseman to record over 11.5 points against the Dallas Wings.
Aiming for their second straight WNBA Championship, the Liberty signed Emma Meesseman to bolster their roster ahead of the playoffs. While Breanna Stewart, Kennedy Burke, and Nyara Sabally remain out with injuries for New York, I'm all over this player prop tonight.
This is one of my strongest best bets for today, and here's why.
We are talking about Meesseman, a six-time EuroLeague Champion, and three-time EuroLeague MVP. It also helps Meesseman has chemistry given she's played with several Liberty players in the WNBA and overseas. Having one of the highest IQ in all of basketball, we are talking about the best player in Europe.
There's a chance of a blowout tonight, especially if Paige Bueckers is unable to suit up. However, Meesseman has played two games with New York, tallying 11+ points in both.
In just two games with the Liberty, Meesseman is averaging 12 points, shooting 45 percent from the field, and 50 percent from beyond the arc. Recording 11 points in 17 minutes against the Sun, New York head coach Sandy Brondello vastly increased her usage last Tuesday.
Against the Wings, Meesseman tallied 13 points in 24 minutes. 6-13 from the field, the Belgium native shot 1-2 from three. In New York's 8-76 victory over Bueckers and the Wings, Meesseman led all Liberty players with 13 field goal attempts.
In a well balance scoring attack among New York, Meesseman entered the starting lineup for the first time as a member of the Liberty. Expecting the same tonight, Meeseeman was seen attacking downhill, and was effective in transition. Fitting in a perfect five-out offense, the basketball world is ready for those automatic pick and pops featuring Meesseman.
Meesseman has another excellent matchup with Dallas tonight, who allow the most points to forwards this season, and that includes 3-pointers.
With Stewart out, New York will heavily lean on Meesseman, Jonquel Jones, and Isabelle Harrison. Although the Wings have revamped their starting frontcourt with Luisa Geiselsoder and Haley Jones, the Wings defensive struggles continue.
Ranking tenth in defensive rating, Aliyah Boston and Natasha Howard combined for 23 points last matchup against Dallas. Prior against the Liberty, Jonquel Jones and Isabelle combined for 28 points alone!
G: 26 | PPG: 7.5 | FG: 61.9 % | FT: 60 % | 3PT : 0 % | REB: 7.0 | AST: 2.4 | STL: 0.4 | BLK: 0.1
My second best player prop bet for today I placed one unit on Minnesota Lynx forward Jessica Shepard to record over 9.5 rebounds against the Washington Mystics.
With MVP front-runner Napheesa Collier sidelined with injury, Shepard gets the nod in Cheryl Reeve's starting lineup. At 6'4 Shepard and Alanna Smith are more than capable of holding down the Lynx frontcourt. Plus, Shepard is such an underrated player in the WNBA.
Probable to lace up tonight, Shepard has been extremely valuable in her time as a a starter for the Lynx. Averaging 12 points and 11.5 rebounds in four games as a starter—Shepard is averaging 3.8 offensive rebounds alone!
If we look at her usage, Shepard has logged heavy minutes, playing 27 against the Aces, and 33 against the Storm on Tuesday. Not to mention, she's collected 27 rebounds over the last two games, which is an average of 13.5 RPG.
Not to mention, Shepard record 12 and 13 rebounds against the Aces and Storm. With that, competing against A'ja Wilson is no easy feat. Plus, the Storm have a three-headed monster with Nneka Ogwumike, Ezi Magbegor, and Dominique Malonga in the frontcourt.
This matchup does have blowout potential, especially since the Mystics traded Aaliyah Edwards and Brittney Sykes. Sure, Shepard will have a tough matchup against Shakira Austin and Kiki Iriafen. However, the Mystics allow the seventh most points to forwards and and second most rebounds to centers.
Last matchup, Shepard recorded four rebounds in just 11 minutes. On June 24, she feasted in the Mystics' 68-64 victory over the Lynx. Without Collier, she erupted for 12 points and 15 rebounds in 37 minutes.
G: 30 | PPG: 12.7 | FG: 43.9 % | FT: 86.8 % | 3PT : 31.5 % | REB: 4.7 | AST: 4.5 | STL: 2.6 | BLK: 0.4
My third best player prop bet for today, I placed one unit on Seattle Storm forward Gabby Williams to record over 16.5 points and rebounds against the Las Vegas Aces.
Williams has been an x-factor for the Storm this season, especially on the defensive end. Gathering a franchise best 75 steals, Williams has a prime matchup against A'ja Wilson and the Aces.
Williams has been somewhat inconsistent from a betting perspective, but let me tell you why I believe in this player prop today.
Aforementioned, the books are expecting a close matchup, with the Aces favored by a slim margin. With that said, Williams has soared over this prop line in three of the last four games—averaging 17.7 points and rebounds.
Now in the league full time, Williams has cleared this line in six straight meetings against Las Vegas, dating back to 2024. In that span, she's averaged 22.9 points and rebounds.
I veered away from betting on Storm guards, especially with Sykes expected to make her debut. This leaves Williams, who's easily cleared this prop line in all three matchups against the Aces.
In fact, she's averaging 16.7 points alone in those three outings against Vegas, including 7.o rebounds.
The Aces have improved, winning two straight, and they rank No. 6 overall in defensive rating (104.3) over the last five games. But let's not take away their defensive struggles. This season, the Aces allow the most points to forwards, along with fifth most points.
Williams and the Storm haven't see the Aces since June 20, and now they have NaLyssa Smith alongside A'ja Wilson in the starting lineup.
I'm expecting tonight to be a close matchup, and I do believe Williams can crush this player prop line from points alone. She's shooting 50 percent from three against the Aces this season, and is averaging nearly 13 points alone over the last four games.
