The Connecticut Sun (0-1) will host the Las Vegas Aces (0-1) for their first clash of the season. Significant 12.5 point spread favorites on the road, the Aces are coming off a 92-78 season opener loss against the New York Liberty. Aside from A'ja Wilson's monstrous 31-point, 16-rebound performance, the Aces struggled massively on both ends of the floor. Not to mention, New York dropped 92 points, shooting 48.6 percent from the floor. New York destroyed the Aces on the interior, 56-32.
As aforementioned in previous articles, the Aces have a newly revamped roster. Now they get a Connecticut Sun team that imploded their roster in the offseason. Although the Sun maintained a steady lead in their season opener, they ultimately conceded to the Washington Mystics, 90-85. Now they get another home matchup today against the Aces. This time, rookie Saniya Rivers is set to take her WNBA debut.
For the second matchup, the Indiana Fever (1-0) will host the Atlanta Dream (0-1) at home. After a dominating 93-58 season opener showdown against the Chicago Sky, the Fever are massive point spread favorites at home. Led by Caitlin Clark's triple- double, DeWanna Bonner moved up to third all-time on the WNBA scoring list. Not to mention, Indiana had a balanced scoring attack—with four players scoring points in double figures.
Having signed free agents Brittney Griner and Brionna Jones in the offseason, rookie Te-Hina Paopao has earned the starting nod in place of the injured Jordin Canada. Having blown a 12-point lead, the Dream dropped their season opener to the Mystics, 94-90.

My first best bet for today, I placed one unit on Aces guard Chelsea Gray to record over 16.5 points and assists against the Connecticut Sun.
The Aces offense was stagnant outside of Wilson, and Gray finished with 12 points and four assists. Locked up by Liberty guard Natasha Cloud, Gray shot just 4-13 from the field in 35 minutes.
There's no doubt Gray is the team's top facilitator with the departure of Kelsey Plum. They don't call her the "Point Gawd" for nothing—Gray is the best point guard in the WNBA. Losing Plum leaves a void, which means Jackie Young, Gray, and newly acquired Jewell Loyd will have to step up alongside Wilson.
While Young is expected to share on ball duties, I do see Gray as the primary facilitator of the Aces. With such high IQ, I'm expecting Gray to have a more efficient night from the field. Although the Connecticut Sun have have remained a defensive team, they gave up 94 points to the Mystics.
Although it was the first game of the season, this is a Suns team that's clearly in rebuild mode. I'm not expecting Lindsay Allen or Jacy Sheldon to lock up Chelsea Gray. Although I will say, Sheldon is known for her defensive prowess.
The Aces third leading scorer through one game, I do believe Gray can soar over this line from a points perspective alone.
Overall, Gray averaged 13 field goal attempts per game, and it's hard to think Jewell Loyd won't be more involved this game. Don't forget Gray wasn't healthy most of last season, even though she averaged 6.2 dimes in the playoffs.
If Gray could record 16 points and assists against a stingy Liberty defense, she should have much more success tonight. Historically, Gray has soared over this prop in five of the last six outings. This is the first time she'll face a Sun team that's under a complete rebuild.
GP: 1 |PPG: 11 | FG: 28.6 % | FT: 0 % | 3PT : 25 % | REB: 2.0 | AST: 6.0 | STL: 1.0 | BLK: 0.0
My second best bet for today, I placed one unit on Dream guard Rhyne Howard to record over 15.5 points against the Indiana Fever.
There's no doubt the Dream let the season opener slip through their fingers after losing a 12 point lead to the Washington Mystics. Atlanta added some key pieces in the offseason with Jones and Griner. A core four of Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, Brionna Jones, and Brittney Griner would be deadly.
With Jordin Canada out of the linup, I am expecting Howard to take a huge leap alongside Allisha Gray (who's been killing it) and rookie Te-Hina Paopao.
While it's hard to say will carry the Dream on a nightly basis, they have multiple options that can score at a high level. With that, I'm expecting a continuation of a balanced scoring attack.
That said, the Dream will have a tall task against a new and improved Fever team, who ranks No.1 in defense. In their first outing against the Sky, the Fever didn't allow a single guard, side from Ariel Atkins, to score 11 points.
That's an average of 22.8 points per game, and even recorded 36 points in their last outing. We are talking about a player that averaged 17.3 points and 15 field goal attempts last year.
We did see Howard face the Fever in preseason, where she finished with 10 points in 26 minutes. Again, she struggled from the field, shooting just 2-11 from the field, and 2-11 from deep.
Overall, Howard is one of the best two-way players in the game, who can score at all three levels. Given the Fever play at an extremely high pace, I'm expecting a ton of scoring tonight. The Dream offense looked stagnant at times, outside of Allisha Gray.
My third best best bet for today, I placed one unit on the Las Aces Aces to cover the 13 point favorable spread against the Connecticut Sun.
The Aces got torched by the Liberty 92-78 in the season opener, and now get a chance for redemption against the Sun on the road. I don't imagine them repeating a 34.1 percent shooting performance.
With a new roster takes time, and I do believe Lloyd will find her fit in Becky Hammon's offensive scheme as time goes on. That said, the Aces don't particularly have a strong bench, with Megan Gustafson out with injury, and Elizabeth Kitley slowing returning from an ACL injury.
However, I do believe the Aces have one of the best starting lineups in the WNBA, and Dana Evans and Tiffany Mitchell can be viable assets off the bench.
I'm not knocking the Mystics—the are a young team that's rebuilding their core. If had a five point lead, the Aces have a solid chance of covering by at least 13 points.
Bottom line, the Aces are simply the superior team. We are talking about two-time reigning champions, who mainly kept their core of Wilson, Young, and Gray. Now, I do have questions about the offense, given the Aces rank No. 12 in defensive rating.
The Sun get some depth back, this time with rookie Saniyah Rivers set to make her rookie debut. I was pleasantly surprised how aggressive the Sun came out of the gate, with head coach Rachid Meziane going deep into his roster.
I do believe Marina Mabrey will have a bounce back game, after recording just 11 points, and Tina Charles should heavily carry the Sun. With rookie Aneesah Morrow out, the depth runs limited behind the starting five.
Against the Liberty, Wilson exploded for 31 points and 16 rebounds. Shooting 11-22 from the field, she should have a decent matchup against Connecticut. Again, how well can we trust a Sun team who lost a 15 point lead over the Mystics?
It's hard to tell through a few games, however, the Aces currently have the fourth best odds behind the Liberty, Fever and Lynx, to win a WNBA Championship at +390 odds.
While the Aces showed weakness on both sides of the ball, we have to remember they faced the reigning champion New York Liberty. The Sun are far from that, with just two players returning from last season. With head coach Stephanie White gone, the Sun lost their complete starting five.
