With the 2025 MLB season right around the corner, it's about time we take a look at which young talents will both receive and take advantage of a huge opportunity to capture the Rookie of the Year award in their respective leagues.

In the American League, we'll put our thinking caps on to figure out big-league proximity as we preview the MLB Futures market.

The fact of the matter is that only Jasson Dominguez currently stands to start the season in the big leagues as we speak now, but Jackson Jobe isn't very far behind.
The top pitching prospect in all of baseball has put together an excellent spring to this point, posting a 3.12 ERA in three outings, and with little security in the back-end of the Detroit Tigers' rotation he should really earn a spot over Kenta Maeda at the very least in the first month of the year, if he doesn't do so in camp.
ββ
Jobe had an electrifying 2024 down in the minors, and with the tutelage of a very wise Tigers coaching staff should avoid looking dreadful out of the gates, if he doesn't immediately translate his elite stuff to the big leagues.
He's not going to be posting stellar strikeout rates out of the gate as more of a contact-oriented arm, but that should work in his favor given many other young pitchers are strikeout-reliant, and only a select few are able to immediately rack up punchouts in their first year.

Well, Kumar Rocker may be one of those guys. He struck out nearly 26% of the batters he faced in his first taste of big-league action last season, which spanned three starts, and it came off the heels of an incredible, yet short-lived run through Double-A and Triple-A which saw him strike out 37 batters in just 26 2/3 innings.
Well, he's done enough to put those concerns to rest, and even with a poor showing in spring training to this point he should be back up to the bigs in no time to support an oft-injured and top-heavy Texas Rangers rotation.
This is the riskiest bet on the board, but considering he's already reached the major leagues and had success I'm not sure he should be priced this way.

The Boston Red Sox have an exciting duo of outfield prospects who find themselves atop the board, but neither have a spot on the major-league roster and neither have even spent a close to a full year at Triple-A.
The Angels have made a habit of taking older college players in the first round and rushing them to the big leagues, and Moore looks to be next in line. The team is already dealing with an injury to starting infielder Luis Rengifo which should open up an immediate need for help, and Yoan Moncada's track record in the health department is one of the worst in baseball.
Moore has hit a respectable .267 in 30 at-bats thus far in spring training, and after hitting .347 down on the farm in his first minor-league season should earn a call in no time. He's a consistent hitter even if his power doesn't jump off the page, but we like consistency when it comes to rookies -- and playing time. He should check both boxes.
