A full slate of games are taking place this Friday in Major League Baseball. Top matchups include Astros vs Rangers, and the Blue Jays visiting the Yankees.
Baseball's only Canadian team is leading the American League for the top seed in the playoffs. The Yankees have sights on the Jays though: only three games separate these division rivals in the loss column.
The Yanks are 3-7 against Toronto, which means they cannot claim the season series. That means New York must finish one full game ahead of the Jays in the AL East to have a chance at the No. 1 or No. 2 seed.

But team success isn't on my radar for baseball betting this evening. Tonight I make five choices for MLB Player Props. I am selecting odds from either BetMGM or FanDuel.
You can find MLB odds at many sportsbooks: look in your state for the licenses sports betting apps available.
As he seems to do every season, Julio Rodríguez is enjoying a second-half hot tear. The Mariners' outfielder had a 944 OPS in August, on the strength of a 321/357/587 slash line and seven home runs. Last season, J-Rod posted a 690 OPS in the first half and 818 in the second.
Take note: Rodríguez has a 299/340/576 slash line for his career in September/October. He's hit more home runs in September than any other month.
On Friday, the right-handed hitting Rodríguez gets to face southpaw Chris Sale of the Braves. Sale has surrendered 24 extra-base hist, but 19 have come against RHB.
WAGER: I like $50 on J-Rod to get multiple hits, with a payout of $122.50 if we win that bet.
Castellanos has been scuffling. The Phillies' slugger is 2-for-18 in his last six games. He's gone nearly two weeks since he hit a homer.
But one thing can help a batter get rolling: past success and confidence. Castellanos is 2-for-6 against Valente Bellozo, the starting pitcher for the Fish on Friday.
The Phillies will need Nicky Two-Bags to be in a groove come October when they enter the postseason. All he needs is one hit tonight to make your wager a winner in Miami.
WAGER: Bet $50 on Castellanos to record at least one hit. Win $60 (+120 odds) if he does.
The Houston superstar has 10 hits in his last three games. On Thursday, Álvarez hit a home run and a double against the Yankees.
Friday's game is important for the Astros, who start the latest edition of the Lone Stars Series against the Rangers in Arlington. These games are critical: the Rangers lead the season series 4-3. The team that wins the 13-game series will own the tiebreaker.
He will be facing Merrill Kelly on Friday evening. Kelly and the Rangers will have their work cut out for them facing Houston's top four in the lineup: Jeremy Peña (Dominican), Álvarez (Cuban), Jose Altuve (Venezuelan), and Carlos Correa (Puerto Rican). Their known as Los Cuatro Bateadores Extraordinarios. At least that's what we call them here, and they are tough.
WAGER: I love these odds, so I intend to wager $100 on Yordan to get at least two TB. If he does, I win $195. That means two single, a double, either one or more will work for a winner on this MLB player prop wager.
Has there been a pitcher more frustrating in the 2025 season than Flaherty? The righty flipped from the Tigers to the Dodgers last season and grabbed a World Series ring. He was worthy: pitching well in the postseason for his hometown team.
Then Flaherty flipped back to the Motor City as a free agent over the offseason. He even signed a fairly affordable contract ($35 million for two years). But, "Jack Flare" has been puzzling in '25.
Flaherty has made 27 starts entering Friday. He's allowed at least four runs in eight of them. He also has nine starts where he's allowed zero or one run.
But one thing has been fairly constant for Flaherty: he gets his strikeouts. In 17 of 27 starts the righthander has at least six K's.
BUDGET PICK: Wager $75 on Flaherty to strike out at least six White Sox batters. If he does, you win $50 on -150 odds from FanDuel.
BEST BET: Consider the +135 odds on Flaherty to record 7+ K's. Your $100 bet would win $135 plus your stake.
