The American League takes over at center stage of the MLB Playoffs today with a pair of Game Threes.
The Yankees face a 2-0 hole as they host the Toronto Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium in the night cap of a MLB Playoff doubleheader.
The Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners meet in Motown knotted at one game apiece in this AL Division Series. Oddsmakers now price the Tigers as favorites to win this series.
I'll make two betting picks for each of these two games: one game prop and one player prop. Look out for my BEST BET selection.

Only 10 days ago it seemed as if the Tigers might squander a division title and a playoff spot. They did lose the former, losing a 14.5 game lead )15.5 games over Cleveland). But Detroit managed to sneak into these playoffs as a wild card.
Now, only six games after getting into the playoffs by the fur of their Tigerish chins, Detroit is looking at an opportunity to clinch this series at home with a pair of wins.
According to FanDuel and DraftKings, Detroit is +360 to win the AL pennant. The last time Detroit won the league flag was in 2012. The franchise has only advanced to the World Series twice since 1984. That's the year they most recently were crowned champions. This is now the longest championship drought in Tiger history. Fans are eager to end that dry spell.
On Tuesday, it's Jack Flaherty (8-15, 4.64 ERA, 3.85 FIP) vs. Logan Gilbert (6-6, 3.44 ERA, 3.35 FIP). In the wild card round, Flaherty did a commendable job: only one earned run allowed while recording 14 outs. Gilbert has not pitched in more than a week. He tired as the regular season wore on. He has good stuff, but can rely too much on one or two pitches. He's a lot like Flaherty: frustrating and inconsistent. But generally, both of these starters have pitched better than the record showed in 2025.
So far the Jays have outscored the Yankees 23-8 in their two victories. The NY lineup has looked overmatched for the most part. Only during "garbage time" down by a dozen runs on Sunday, have the Yankees shown the ability to score runs.
This series isn't technically over, but it may as well be. The Blue Jays have the series' best hitter (Vladimir Guerrero Jr.), the best defense, and the best situational relief pitchers (if they ever need them).
My player prop is attached to the big slugger, the son-of-a-Hall-of-Famer, Big Bad Vlad.
On Wednesday look for my preview of the ALDS and NLDS games to played on that day.
