Publish Date: 09/22/2024
Fact checked by: Allan Howe

As we head into the last game of Week 3, we have a matchup between two struggling teams as the one-win Washington Commanders take on the winless Cincinnati Bengals.

  • Rookie Jayden Daniels is looking for the biggest win of his young career when he takes on Joe Burrow and the Bengals in primetime.
  • Joe Burrow is searching for his first win of the season after coming up short in back-to-back games to kick off 2024.

This game should be a good one to end Week 3 on Monday night and with that said, let's take a look at our Commanders-Bengals prediction and pick.

Why The Washington Commanders Will Cover The Spread

The Washington Commanders got their first win under new head coach Dan Quinn when they defeated the dreadful New York Giants in Week 2. While Jayden Daniels has yet to throw a touchdown in his NFL he still managed to get his first win in Week 2.

  • Jayden Daniels has rushed 26 times for 132 yards and 2 touchdowns through 2 weeks.
  • He managed to pass for 410 yards with no touchdowns so far this season.

The Washington Commanders Are +7.5 Point Spread Underdogs Monday

The Washington Commanders are looking to continue their winning ways against the stiffest competition they have faced so far this season. While the passing game is still a work in progress, their running game could take over this game.

  • The Commanders are 5th in the league with 176.5 rushing yards per game on 32.5 rushing attempts per game.
  • The Bengals give up 159.5 rushing yards per game through the first two weeks of the season which is the 6th worst mark in the NFL.

The Commanders' ability to mix up their attacks well especially with the RPO makes them a dangerous proposition for the Bengals in this home matchup. The Commanders are now 1-1 ATS the spread and will be looking to make that 2-1 when they head to Cincinnati in this primetime matchup.

Why The Cincinnati Bengals Will Cover The Spread

The Cincinnati Bengals fans had high hopes for their team coming into the new season with a healthy Joe Burrow but that isn't the case through two weeks as they are still searching for their first win of the season.

While this team is still looking for some offensive fluidity, this matchup will have this Bengals' offense getting back on track.

  • The Commanders give up 348 yards of total offense per game and give up 227.5 of that through the air.
  • After a rough Week 1 against the New England Patriots, Joe Burrow found his footing in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs with 258 passing yards and 2 touchdowns with a 103.7 passer rating.

This Bengals defense has also played well through 2 weeks limiting the opposition to just 21 ppg against the Patriots and the Chiefs. It will be up to this Bengals front-seven to get a push up front to not allow the Commanders to run rampant all over them in this matchup.

Expect the Bengals to come out playing with more urgency than they have been in the past two weeks. Also with the presence of Tee Higgins back on the field will help Joe Burrow push the ball downfield creating more big plays which is exactly what the Bengals need to get back on track in this primetime tilt on Monday Night Football.

NFL FINAL COMMANDERS-BENGALS PICK & PREDICTION

The last game of Week 3 should be a good one between the upstart Washington Commanders and the Cincinnati Bengals who are looking for their first win of the season.

While the Commanders have a bright future ahead of them, this is a matchup that is going to be tough for them to overcome. Ultimately, the Bengals will do as they want offensively in this matchup with the Commanders not having much firepower to answer back as the Bengals get the dominant victory which will be the first of 2024.
