We're getting set for what could be a thrilling affair on Monday Night Football this week between the unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs and playoff-hopeful Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and that calls for a look at the most exciting bet in football.
We'll look to capitalize on the First Touchdown Scorer market with a pair of cornerstone receivers for their respective teams, and one quarterback that's been running the ball a good bit this season.
Let's get into the best bets for first touchdown scorer for Buccaneers vs Chiefs -- and before we do, remember that this is a highly-volatile market and odds are long for good reason.
You probably guessed I'd start out talking about Travis Kelce, who will draw a soft matchup against one of the worst defenses in football, and admittedly I did too.
The dynamic pass-catcher is tied with Kelce for the team lead in red zone touches this season, but he's been the clear focus for this team around the end zone on account of his three rushing attempts and two touchdowns, which leads all pass-catchers.
Sure, Kansas City could simply pound the rock if it approaches the end zone early, but there should be little reason to do so against a team that's been much stronger at stuffing the run.
The Chiefs should look to Worthy's speed and elusiveness to wreak havoc in the red zone, and his price is all too generous given the outlook.
Now, the Chiefs enter this one as nine-point favorites and have been one of the most complete defenses in the league, but there's certainly some value in looking at least a couple of Buccaneers here.
The big man will be taking aim here at a Chiefs secondary that grades out just 13th in coverage according to Pro Football Focus, and on which has allowed a whopping 8.1 targets per game to opposing tight ends to sit atop football.
We've only seen two touchdowns scored by opposing tight ends on the Chiefs, but I'm confident Otton will produce the third on Monday -- making this line very generous.
Finally, we've got to get a little crazy in this market. The man I've picked out is none other than one of the quarterbacks here -- who's been leaning on his legs this season.
It was just two weeks ago that Brock Purdy ran for two touchdowns against Kansas City, and I don't think it's out of the question that this defense will surrender another here. One of the Chiefs' greatest strengths is their pass rush, but in getting to Mayfield they're going to force him outside the pocket where he's proven he can do plenty of damage as a ballcarrier.
I'm almost always a fan of betting on quarterbacks to run against great pass rushes, particularly when they can run as well as Mayfield, and there should be little to really hate about this spot. It's a good number to play.
