Houston is currently the most favored team by the sportsbooks before the start of March Madness. At present, their odds to win this year's tournament are at +475. Based on the odds, they are expected to be the team to beat in 2023.
However, the unpredictability of the tournament means that the favorites could still falter, giving the second favorite, Alabama, a chance to succeed. The only certainty in March Madness is uncertainty.
In the event that neither of these teams emerges victorious, other contenders such as Perdue, Kansas, and UCLA will be vying for the top spot. While Kentucky, at +4000, will hope to be in the running but such a wager would be considered one of the longer shots.
Texas | Current Odds |
---|---|
Kentucky | +4000 |
Houston | +475 |
Alabama | +650 |
Purdue | +1000 |
UCLA | +1200 |
Kansas | +1200 |
Kentucky may be one of the most successful colleges in March Madness history but at the same time, their eight previous wins have become something of a footnote in recent years. Now, the Wildcats will want to live in basketball’s present.
Something that will be easier said than done when you consider the competitive nature of this year’s field and at their rather weighty odds of +4000, any progress to the Elite Eight and beyond will have to be considered rather respectable.
As March Madness approaches, you still have just enough time to refine your March Madness betting strategy. If you already have a team to bet on, it's important to find the best sportsbook to place your bets
Those colleges that find themselves in this year’s First Round will be looking to avoid getting eliminated early on and when it comes to placing wagers, you will be aiming to do the same. Thankfully, our list of recommended sportsbooks should help you along the way.
