2022-23 College Basketball Championship Odds

As the opening fixtures of this year’s March Madness are now just hours away, the sportsbooks currently have Houston as the favorites to win in 2023. Not only that, but their price has shortened in the past few days.

What was +500 had shrunk to +475 and now finds itself at just +450. With such confidence being granted by both sportsbooks and bettors alike, it is difficult to look past this particular college.

However, the chasing pack will want a say in this year’s March Madness matters, and with Alabama at +650, they will also believe they are in with a chance of victory. The same could also be said for the trio of Purdue, UCLA, and Kansas.

While for those looking for a longer shot, Marquette may also be worth your consideration. They currently sit top of the Big East and for that reason alone, they should not be overlooked either.

Texas Current Odds
Marquette +2000
Houston +450
Alabama +650
Purdue +1000
UCLA +1000
Kansas +1200

Marquette Stats

  • Marquette’s only success at March Madness came back in 1977, as the Golden Eagles beat North Carolina by 67 points to 59.
  • That victory in ‘77 made up for disappointment in the final three years prior. This time they were beaten by the NC State Wolfpack by 76 points to 64.
  • In addition to this, they have also reached the Final Four on one other occasion. This was in 2003 when they were well beaten by Kansas.

Will Marquette Win March Madness?

Marquette’s current showing in the Big East will certainly provide them with the right amount of momentum to take into March Madness and they should be able to deal with early opposition rather smoothly.

However, a lot will depend on how things go in the Sweet Sixteen onwards. A lot will depend on what opposition they face from here on in. The Golden Eagles will certainly make decent progress but whether they can go all the way, I am not so sure.

Where to bet on Marquette during March Madness

With March Madness lurking just around the corner, the ability to place a wager or two is not going to be all that far away either. The colleges involve want to win the tournament, the sportsbooks want to win your money.
