The UFC has a stacked fight card UFC 304 on tap for the UK fans in Manchester, England where the UFC hasn't been back to since 2016.
In the prelims, we have a fight between surging welterweight prospects who are looking to make a statement this weekend when "The Welsh Gangster" Oban Elliott takes on Preston "Pressure" Parsons.
Oban Elliott (10-2)Β secured his contract on the Contender Series with a majority decision victory over the Fighting Nerd's Kaik Brito in a back-and-forth war something that Elliott strives in.
Elliott made a name for himself by putting on exciting fights over in the UK's biggest MMA promotion Cage Warriors where he amassed an 8-2 record fighting in their welterweight and middleweight divisions.
He loves to fight and engage in a brawl with his opponents and will be looking to pull that kind of fight out of Preston Parsons. As for Parsons, he is a wrestler and grappler by nature but he's also down for a great scrap.
In this particular matchup with Parsons, Elliott will have the power and speed advantages on the feet while Parsons will have the wrestling and grappling like he has the majority of the time in his fights.
However, Elliott will be best suited to keep this fight standing where he will be the one to land the more devastating shots on the feet and if this fight stays standing it should be his fight to lose come Saturday night.
Preston Parsons (11-4)Β is now 2-2 in his UFC career most recently dominating Matthew Semelsberger with his suffocating top game for his 11th win of his career and will now be looking to extend his winning streak to two in a row when he takes on Oban Elliott this weekend at UFC 304.
Parsons is as tough as they come and can push a grueling pace that's hard for many to match. He loves to make his fights absolute dog fights as he attempts to drown the opposition with his wrestling and grappling until they succumb to his submissions.
In this matchup against Elliott, Parsons is going to need to do what he does best and put on a grappling pace that Elliott can't match for 15 minutes. While Parsons isn't a bad striker by any means, he certainly will not be winning fights on the feet in this matchup.
Elliott is going to be the aggressor and Parsons is going to need to use that against him by timing his entries on his takedowns. From there, Parsons will need to rack up control time, hunt for the submissions, and chain wrestle if Elliott can scramble back to his feet.
As long as Parsons doesn't spend too much time on the feet and racks up those takedowns he can extend his winning streak to two in a row and get the win in hostile territory.
This should be a great scrap between these two welterweight fighters on the prelims of this UFC 304 PPV event.
Ultimately, expect these two welterweights to lay it all out in there in a back-and-forth war but it will be Elliott who will be landing the cleaner and harder shots on the feet while being able to maintain distance keeping this fight standing as he gets the nod on the judge's scorecards.
