On Tuesday night, the Oklahoma State Cowboys will host the Kansas Jayhawks in yet another big Big 12 game.
Texas is leading the conference at 9-3 overall, with Kansas only one game behind at 8-3. As the regular season winds down, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, and Iowa State are all within striking distance.
This matchup offers Oklahoma State a great opportunity to improve its postseason resume. Depending on your location, the Cowboys are currently in the 9-10 range.
On the other hand, Kansas is on a path towards a No.1 seed If it can continue to manage its business down the stretch.
Oklahoma State and Kansas have combined to win nine of their last ten games.
Kansas is not playing on the elite level that they were earlier in the season, but they are playing better than they did during a losing streak a few weeks back; rebounding is happening, and three-point shooting has returned.
Kansas' success is not dependent on making three-point shots. It's too good at forcing takeaways and converting mistakes off of them; the ability to force turnovers and convert points off them makes Kansas a National Championship contender.
Kansas has not been an outstanding shooting team this season, making them vulnerable here on the road.
Oklahoma State has been an excellent defender of the three point shot.
The Cowboy defense at home has been outstanding over the past few games. Texas Tech was the only team that hit more than 30% at Gallagher Iba arena, and they still lost. But, more importantly, the offense does almost everything at home.
It is unbeaten in Stillwater when it makes more than 42% from the field. The Kansas defense has allowed more than that in two of its last three road games.
In the first matchup between these two, Kansas was held to fewer than 70 points for the ninth time this season. The Jayhawks were able to sneak out a two-point win through a 20-point performance from Jalen Wilson. But, this previous game gives us some much-needed insight into the odds that Oklahoma State can pull the small upset.

Oklahoma State has played well as of late, especially at home. Kansas has played better recently but not as well as they were earlier in the season. I would take Oklahoma State in Stillwater at +2.5 against almost anybody. The Cowboys have been on fire at home. Look for the Cowboys to defend the perimeter tough and win a close game down the stretch.
With the over under in this game at 139.5, I look back on the previous matchup this season. Then I look at how the teams are playing, and both are playing well. I think both teams end up in the low 70s, so I am betting the over in this one.
