The NBA betting continues Friday, March 3, 2023 with the Minnesota Timberwolves facing off against the Los Angeles Lakers in a Western Conference showdown at Crypto.com Arena, Los Angeles, California.
Los Angeles and Minnesota continue their three-game regular season series. The Timberwolves are looking for their third consecutive victory over the Lakers. While Karl-Anthony Towns (calf) is still out of the visitors' lineup, D'Angelo Russell and LeBron James (foot) are both missing from the Lakers' regular-season series.
The Minnesota Timberwolves (32-22) and 30-34 ATS (ATS) just came off Tuesday's 108-101 road win over the Los Angeles Clippers. The Timberwolves dominated the Clippers after three consecutive losses to the Washington Wizards (114-106), Charlotte Hornets (121-113) and Golden State Warriors (109-104). Minnesota made 47.8% of its field goal attempts, forcing LA to make 25 turnovers.
Jaden McDaniels, who scored 20 points last Tuesday on an 8-for-12 field shooting effort, led Minnesota. Anthony Edwards scored 18 points, and had three assists and three steals. Kyle Anderson was second with 12 points, ten boards, three dishes, and a pair steals.
The Timberwolves are currently eighth in the Western Conference. They are one game behind the No. 5 seed, and one game and a half above the Lakers, who are occupying the No. 11 seed. Minnesota is 23rd in league-adjusted offensive efficiency (113.2 points per 100 possessions), and 4th in field goal percentage (49%). The T-Wolves, on the other hand, allow 113.3 points per 100 possessions (tenth in the NBA) and shoot 46.9% from the field (also tenth).
Los Angeles Lakers (30-31-2 ATS; 30-333 Lakers) concluded a three-game road trip on Wednesday. They defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder, 123-117, as 3-point underdogs. Anthony Davis (foot), LeBron James, and D'Angelo Russell were on the sidelines. Dennis Schroder was the Lakers' leader with 26 points and six assists.
Schroder scored 22 points in the second half, while Troy Brown Jr. (and Austin Reaves) each had 19 points. The Lakers were 16-for 35 from beyond the 3-point line and 31-for 39 from the charity stripe. However, they were outscored 60 to 34 in the paint.
They average 113.5 points per 100 possessions (22nd NBA) with 48.0% shooting (11th in NBA). However, they return 114.4 points (tied-16th) with 47.0% shooting (tied-11th).

Betting on the game! (TWolves -1)
Keep an eye on the injury report, as Anthony Davis could miss his second consecutive game. If Davis cannot play, I'd take the Timberwolves, who can defend against this Lakers team well. Even if Davis is available, the Lakers must shoot from deep to beat Minnesota.
Los Angeles will be without James and D'Angelo Russell. The Timberwolves' backcourt will be all over Dennis Schroder. In its five previous meetings with the Lakers, Minnesota is at 4-1 SU/5-0 ATS
With the lakers missing multiple guys I am betting the under in this game.
