Western Conference leaders the Dallas Mavericks host reigning NBA Champions the Denver Nuggets in a big early season clash on Friday night. The game could be one of the highlights of the season so far, with both teams in great form and playing some high quality ball.
If you are looking to place a wager on the game, then our NBA Picks are here to help you out. Our experts have assessed the key areas that will decide the game in order to put together their exclusive tip.
The Denver Nuggets opened the new season with four straight wins, but began November with a disappointing 110-89 defeat to Minnesota. Despite that defeat, hopes are high that the Nuggets can replicate last season’s success and land consecutive NBA titles.
Much of the Nuggets’ hopes will rest on the shoulders of Nikola Jokic. The Serbian star has led the Nuggets in points in all five of their games so far, as well as leading the team in rebounds and assists. If Jokic stays fit all year, the Nuggets will have a great chance of landing back to back titles.
After a disastrous end to the 2022/23 season, the Mavericks have bounced back by winning their opening four games of the new campaign. Slovenian guard Loka Doncic has been the star of the show. The four time All Star leads the team in points, rebounds and assists. One concern for the Mavericks is the minor foot injury sustained by former Rookie of the Year Kyrie Irving. Dallas will be hoping that Irving returns sooner rather than later, otherwise they will have a big hole to fill at guard.
The two teams have met in 186 regular season games, with the Mavericks holding a 96-90 lead in the head-to-head. The teams have also played each other 11 times in the postseason, with the Nuggets holding a 6-5 advantage.
The Denver Nuggets are marginal favorites for the game on NBA betting sites and can be backed at -118 for the win. Meanwhile, the Mavericks are priced at 110.
These are two in-form teams, and whilst the Nuggets arguably have the stronger squad, we are tipping the Mavericks to continue their winning run. Backed by a raucous home crowd, Dallas will be a tough side to beat, and with Doncic performing at the peak of his powers we think they will have enough firepower to make it five wins from five.
