The NBA betting action will take place on Wednesday, March 8th, 2023 with the Toronto Raptors facing off against the Los Angeles Clippers in a cross-conference matchup at Crypto.com Arena, Los Angeles, California.
Los Angeles and Toronto wrap up their regular-season series. The Clippers are 3-point home favorites, scoring 229.0 points. The Clippers defeated the Raptors by 124 to113 in December as 4-point road dogs. The game was over 219 points.
The Toronto Raptors (32-34) and 33-33 (ATS) have been inconsistent recently, going 2-3 SU over their five previous games and 3-2 overall. The Raptors split a set with the Washington Wizards after a crushing defeat at the Cleveland Cavaliers (118-93) and a home win over the Chicago Bulls (104-98). This began a five-game road trip. They defeated the Wizards by 116 to 109.
The Raptors were 6.5-point underdogs when they visited Denver Nuggets last Monday. Despite having a significant lead throughout the night, they lost 118-113. Toronto managed just four points in the last 3:26 of the fourth period. They finished with a 50.0 field-goal percentage and a 29/15 assist-to-turnover ratio. Fred Van Vleet was the Raptors' leading scorer with 21 points and 14 assists and Pascal Siakam scored 19 points and four rebounds.
The Raptors are currently ninth in the Eastern Conference. They are two and a quarter games ahead of the No. 11 seed. They average 114.9 points per 100 possessions, which is tied-12th in NBA. They also allow 114.4 points in returns (tied-18th). Over the past five games, the Raptors have made 45.1% field goals and 35.0% 3-pointers.
This past Sunday, the Los Angeles Clippers (34-33) and 32-35 ATS ended their five-game losing streak. The Clippers defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 135 129 but failed to cover a 7.5-point spread in front of their home fans. After scoring 51 points in the first quarter, the Clippers erased a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter.
The Clippers shot 52.9% from the field against the Grizzlies (12-for-30 from deep), and 33-for-35 from the foul line. Paul George scored 42 points and 11 boards. Kawhi Leonard had 34 points and ten boards. Eric Gordon added 17 more points from the bench.
LA is the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference. Two games ahead of the No. 11 seed. They are 18th in league-adjusted offensive efficiency (114.1 per 100 possessions), and 17th in adjusted defense efficiency (114.3). Over the last five games, 32.6% have been made by Clippers' 3-pointers.
Raptors vs Clippers Head-to-Head this season.
The Clippers won the first matchup between these two teams in December by a score of 124-113.
With their comeback win over the Grizzlies, the Clippers broke free of their slump and I expect them to continue on the right path. Norman Powell (6.6 PPG this year) is out due to a shoulder injury. However, Paul George and Kawhi Leonard are both healthy and ready to play, so the Clippers will be able beat the Raptors at home.
I expect this game to be similar to these teams first game which had a total score of 137. Neither team is great defensively, so I will take the over in this game.
