NBA betting continues as the Detroit Pistons will host the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, March 7th in this Eastern Conference matchup at Little Caesars Arena. This will be the second game in a series of three. Both teams are trying to end current losing streaks. Something has got to give in this matchup and start moving back in a winning direction for one of these teams.
The Wizards have been home for the last three games but were only able to come away with one victory. They split a home-and-home series with the Toronto Raptors and then fell by 6 points to the East leading Milwaukee Bucks. One of the big reasons why the Wizards have struggled is three point defense. They have let their opponent shoot over 40% in their losses from behind the arc. No matter how good you play on offense, allowing a team to shoot at such a high percentage from downtown will sink your hopes of winning.
Washington currently sits as the last team in postseason play positioning. A game against lower tiered talent like the Pistons has to be games won this late in the regular season. Wizard’s guard Bradley Beal struggled shooting from the field against the length of the Toronto Raptors. He was able to get back on track against the Bucks making 32 points and almost getting the upset. It’s that type of scoring presence the Wizards need to beat the depleted Detroit Pistons.
The Detroit Pistons are indeed streaking. Much like Will Ferrell though, it’s not the type of streaking that many people want to follow. With a loss last night to the Portland TrailBlazers, the Pistons have now fallen 8 times in a row and have gone almost an entire calendar month since their last victory. With key players like Jalen Duren, Bojan Bogdanovic, Isaiah Stewart, and Killian Hayes listed as out, it will take a spirited effort from the Detroit men of misfits to pull out the win.
If Detroit wants to have a shot in this game, they have to get some production from their backcourt. Jayden Ivey has struggled at times and has not looked like the surefire prospect that most perceived him to be. Shooting barely over 40% from the field, Ivey was supposed to be a slasher who took mainly high-percentage shots. The game has been too fast for him at times which led to his struggles against the speed and size of the pro game. If he can put up the stats that many believed he could while remaining efficient, Detroit could spring an upset.
The Wizards and Pistons have only played each other one time this season. Now they will play each other twice with 7 days of separation. The Wizards handled the Pistons in game one, but that was all the way back in October! There has been a lot of basketball played since then, but will the result differ?

In this matchup, I look for the Wizards to cover the 8 points. With the Pistons going into game 2 of a back-to-back and unable to cover the TrailBlazers last night, I simply don't see them covering tonight. The WIzards have to take care of business for a shot at post season play. The only thing the Pistons are playing for are lottery odds and they can fulfill that unless they are losing. Put your money on the Wizards -8.
Again it’s game two of a back-to-back and the Pistons couldn't reach 100 points the last time these two teams played. The Pistons were more healthy in October than they are now. I expect the under to hit at the 223.5 mark and the Wizards to control this one early and coast to an easy victory.
