The Dallas Cowboys visit the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon, in one of the most mouthwatering games of the NFL season so far. The two NFC East rivals are among the front runners for the Super Bowl and this game will go a long way to deciding who tops the division and potentially the NFC Conference.
To help you enjoy the game, our NFL betting experts have put together an exclusive prediction. So read on to discover their verdict on this huge contest.
Following an early October thrashing at the hands of the 49ers, the Cowboys have bounced back with important wins over the Chargers and Rams. In the latter of those two wins, Dallas produced arguably their best performance of the season, racing out to a 33-9 half time lead that they never looked like losing.
The most encouraging aspect of that Lions win was how well the Cowboys performed on both sides of the ball. A pick six from DaRon Bland was sandwiched between touchdowns for CeeDee Lamb and Jake Ferguson, plus a blocked punt leading to a safety. Clearly the Eagles are a vastly superior outfit to the Rams, but if Dallas can produce a similar performance that will have an excellent chance of victory.
Despite having the only one loss record in the league, the Philadelphia Eagles have not been entirely convincing so far. QB Jayen Hurts has been short of his 2022 form, whilst the defence has looked susceptible against the pass. And whilst the latter of those issues was still in evidence in last week’s win over Washington, Hurts and the offense produced their best display of the season to put up an impressive 38 points.
Most sports picks and predictions indicate that the Eagles have an excellent chance of making it back to back NFC titles. Beating their fiercest rivals this Sunday will put them in pole position to secure a first round bye, leaving themselves just two games away from achieving exactly that.
The two teams have met 128 times previously, with the Cowboys holding a 73-55 overall head. In recent years, Dallas has maintained that superiority and it has been 12 years since the Eagles swept their rivals. Last season saw both teams earn a victory, with the Eagles winning their home game 26-17.
The Eagles are favorites for the game and can be backed at -150 for the win. The Cowboys are available at +140 to cause a minor upset.
This looks set to be a thrilling contest. Both teams are full of elite talent on both sides of the ball. However, we think the Eagles hold an important edge offensively. Jalen Hurts is getting back to his best, their three pronged running attack is tough to stop and AJ Brown is becoming one of the most feared WRs in the whole NFL. Yes, Dallas have the likes of All-Pro Micah Parsons in their defensive ranks, but overall we think the Eagles will have enough to earn the W.
