Tonight will see the meeting of two of the Big 12's most exciting teams. Although it may sound odd, this sentence is very accurate.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders found something in February. They have won four of their five conference games after starting off 0-8.
Their hot streak is a far cry from that of Kansas. The Jayhawks suffered a midseason setback but have since won eight of their nine last games.
Aimaq's success has made the Red Raiders a formidable team in scoring points in the paint. Kevin Obanor (a guard), Aimaq, and De'Vion Harm (a guard) all shoot over 64% from close range. As a result, the Jayhawks have lost 35% of their points from this area.
As turnovers are a problem for the Red Raiders, keeping the ball on the inside is the key. Kansas isn't big enough to compete with Texas tech on the low block.
Jalen Wilson is a key component of the Jayhawks' offense. This hyper-athletic wing has made a significant step in the season. Although he hasn't been very efficient, his volume of play and ability to score at all three levels will be important in this
NCAAB
matchup.
Kansas is the bigger team around the rim, although it has the edge on paper. Jayhawks may have to settle for perimeter shots which could lead to a slowdown in their offense.
Obanor dominated from all levels of the court, but Texas Tech hung in and suffered a close loss at home to Kansas.
