
The Bay State is entering the autumn sports calendar on an upbeat note.
On Tuesday, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) released official August 2025 casino and sports wagering revenue figures, with the state's sportsbooks generating $55.8 million in revenue (10.23% hold).
Online betting through Bally Bet, BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, ESPNBet, Fanatics Betting & Gaming, and FanDuel generated $55.1 million in revenue, while retail posted $681,347.

Over $537.4 million was wagered online in the state, while $7.9 million was handled at the state's three retail sportsbooks: Encore Boston Harbor, MGM Springfield, and Plainridge Park.
To date, Massachusetts has collected approx. $346.15 million in total taxes and assessments from licensed operators' sports wagering operations since sports wagering began in person with three brick-and-mortar locations on January 31, 2023, and online on March 10, 2023.
Hometown Hero Tops the Market Again
Boston-based DraftKings handled over $275.9 million in wagers, generating $28.7 million in revenue (10.4% monthly hold). FanDuel finished int the second spot with more than $129.3 million in handle and $13.8 million (10.67%). Fanatics Sportsbook rounded out the top three with over $49.5 million in handle and $5 million in revenue (10.04%).
BetMGM placed fourth with over $46.2 million in handle and $4.7 million in revenue (10.17%) and ESPN BET rounded out the top five with $15.8 million in handle, $1.5 million in revenue (9.49%).
Casino revenue rakes in $105 million
Gross revenue at the three land-based casinos in the Commonwealth was more than $105 million ($73.1 million in slots revenue, $31.1 million in table games).
Encore Boston Harbor led the way with $65 million in revenue, MGM Springfield posted $24.9 million, while Plainridge Park Casino recorded $15.1 million. Total tax collected by the state was $41 million including $29.9 million in casino gaming and $11.1 million in sports betting.
With the New England Patriots set to play in week four, the possibility of a potential Boston Red Sox postseason, and the college football full schedule well underway, look for these numbers to continue to increase in September.
Right around the corner, the Boston Bruins (Oct. 8) and Boston Celtics (Oct. 22) will begin their regular seasons.
