Michigan Sports Betting, iGaming February Figures See Decline Again

With Michigan and Michigan State preparing for this week's start of the NCAA Division I Men's College Basketball Tournament, the Wolverine State on Tuesday released official sports wagering and iGaming figures for February.

The state's iGaming and online sports betting operators posted more than $313 million overall, a huge $43.3 million (12.2%) drop off from January's $356.3 million. Online sports betting handle totaled more than $384.7 million, a 21.7% decrease from January 2026.

Currently, 15 commercial and tribal operators offer iGaming and/or online sports betting in the state (12 offer online sports betting, while all 15 offer iGaming).

February iGaming gross receipts totaled $273.1 million, a $25.2 million decrease from January's $298.3 million. while online sports betting gross receipts totaled $39.9 million, an $18.1 million decline from January's $58 million.

Combined adjusted gross receipts (AGR) totaled $287.5 million for February, including $262.1 million from iGaming and $25.4 million from online sports betting. Compared to January, iGaming AGR declined 8.5% and sports betting AGR fell 31.2%. Year-over-year, iGaming AGR increased 25.4%, while online sports betting AGR decreased 6.7%.

The state collected $55.6 million in total taxes and payments, including $1.7 million from online sports wagering taxes and fees.

Detroit Casinos

The three Detroit casinos reported $13.4 million in wagering taxes and municipal services fees paid to the city in February (iGaming taxes and fees: $12.8M, online sports betting taxes and fees: $587,194).

Tribal operators reported $6.96 million in payments to governing bodies during February.

Buffalo Home Away From Home for Wolverines, Spartans Thursday

Top-seeded Michigan (31-3) will face 16th-seeded Howard in the first round of the Midwest Region Thursday in Buffalo, New York, while third-seeded Michigan State (25-7) will face 14th-seeded North Dakota State in the first round of the East Region, also in Buffalo on Thursday.

This could provide a spark for sports betting in the state when official figures for March are announced in mid-April.
