It was another record-setting month for North Carolina sports wagering.
Since the July start of fiscal year 2026, the Tar Heel State saw their third straight increase in Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) as official revenue figures for October were released by the North Carolina State Lottery Commission (NCSLC) on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
Bettors wagered more than a total of $811.43 million on sports during the month, a huge increase of over $125.37 million and smashing September's then-record of more than $686.06 million.

North Carolina became the ninth state to post a handle of over $800 million in a single month and marks the ninth time the number has reached at least $600 million since online sports betting went live in March 2024.
Customers won an overall total of more than $728.96 million.
For the month, the state's gross wagering revenue totaled more than $78.14 million, an $11.38 million increase from September's $66.76 million. Gross wagering revenue is a total of amounts received from sports wagers less the amounts paid as winnings before any deductions for expenses, fees, or taxes.
State law implements an 18% tax on the gross wagering revenue generated by sports wagering. The estimated tax proceeds for the month are more than $14 million back to the state.
In the sports betting world, the month of October has always been one of the busiest months on the sports calendar with all sports playing at once for part of the month as the MLB Playoffs, highlighted by the World Series, coincides with NFL and college football action.
Over $1.5 billion has been wagered since football season began in late August and more than $2.34 billion has been handled in the first four months of FY 2026.
There are eight licensed sports betting operators in the state.
