
The Virginia Lottery released their monthly casino activity report for November on Monday, which saw a smidge of increased activity from the month prior.
During November, gaming revenues from Virginia casinos totaled $83.5 million, up $1.4 million from October ($82.1 million). $18.9 million in taxes were paid to the state's Gaming Proceeds Fund, as state law assesses a graduated tax on a casino’s AGR, or wagers minus winnings.
There are four operating casinos in The Old Dominion State: Hard Rock Bristol, Rivers Casino Portsmouth, Caesars Virginia, and recently opened The Interim Gaming Hall Norfolk which opened more than five weeks ago on Nov. 7.

Caesars Virginia led the way among the four operators, coming in with an overall AGR of more than $33.71 million (23.68 million on slots, $10.02 million on table games).
Rivers Casino Portsmouth placed second with more than $25.76 million in overall AGR ($19.28 million on slots, $6.47 million on table games). Hard Rock Bristol rounded out the top three with more than $21.55 million in overall AGR ($16.82 million on slots, 4,733,107.50Interim Gaming Hall Norfolk came in with more than $1.41 million in overall AGR, all coming from slots.
Of the state tax on casino AGR, the statute specifies distributions to the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund, the Family and Children’s Trust Fund, the host city, and to the Virginia Indigenous People’s Trust Fund as applicable.
For the Hard Rock Bristol, the statute specifies the portion of taxes reserved for the host city go to the Regional Improvement Commission (RIC). The Interim Gaming Hall Norfolk operates in partnership with the Pamunkey Tribe.
