Candy Coins Review: Is Candy Coins Legit or Scam?

Unlike the standard setup I found in my Winbonanza review, Candy Coins does things differently, so I want to start with a look at how the site works and whether it’s legit or not.

Virtual currencies at Candy Coins

Candy Coins does NOT have a Gold Coin (GC) virtual currency game mode as far as I can see. Instead, it uses Candy Coins (CC), and Battle Points (BP), which have the following function:

• Candy Coins - These are basically the same as Sweeps Coins at other sweepstakes casinos and you can play games with them for the chance at winning CC back. CC are also redeemable for cash prizes if you have 75 CC, have played with any bonus CC 1x, and have fully verified your ID.
• Battle Passes - These are exclusively used in the Battle Arena to play against other customers. They are NOT redeemable and have no other function. When you play games in the Battle Arena using your BP, you can win XP which contributes towards your VIP level.

I’m not 100% sure about this setup as I think it limits your potential playability here somewhat - CC are NOT widely available, and as there’s no Gold Coin mode, you don’t really have a load of virtual currencies to play with. One thing I did notice though was that whenever you lose CC via gameplay, you get the same equivalent amount back as BP, so you should generally always be able to play the PVP arena.

Regulatory compliance and transparency

There were a few things that stood out to me here regarding the regulatory compliance, including the fact that you can’t make real money deposits, and you can only ever play the games using your CC balance. On top of that, the site does have great transparency relating to its parent company and operations. Candy Coins is owned by Inimitable Solutions Limited which is a registered company based in Gibraltar.

Security

I was happy with the level of security offered, and it was similar to the measures I found when creating my Turbostakes review. They’ve got SSL encryption for all data which is something I expect as standard, and there is also geoblocking to prevent unauthorized access from outside the US. The optional Battle Pass purchases also seem secure, and they have relevant documents about the site such as a privacy policy, player safety policy, and terms of use.

Customer support

Next up, I was happy to see a detailed explanation for the two virtual currencies used here, and there are FAQs if you get stuck with anything. Alternatively, if you actually need to speak to someone, you should be able to use the live chat. I did this on a couple of separate occasions and I got to speak to a human within 7-8 minutes which was FINE. Lastly, email support is an option too, but you can expect slower replies of up to 4 hours.

Once I’d figured out how the site works, and it was legit, I dived straight into the games and overall I was impressed. I think they could work with a few more developers and wider the game genres they offer, but I had plenty of fun with the slots and the Battle Arena.

I found a decent mix of slots and live dealers

In terms of the standard games you can play, I mainly saw titles from BGaming, Booming Games, and ICONIC21 who are all producers that I am familiar with. Additionally, you can enjoy the following game categories:

Exploring the Battle Arena

The Battle Arena is essentially a type of multiplayer slot game where you can play against other customers in an attempt to win VIP XP. Each battle is one Battle Pass, and from my experience you have the chance of getting up to 10,000 VIP XP. During each battle, you have to keep spinning your reels (this doesn’t cost anything), and you get points for winning symbol combinations.

There is also a cool selection of power-ups and special abilities you can choose before a battle that can be activated when you get special symbols. These will either give you a boost, or work against the other players to hinder their progression and score.

Did I find the Candy Coins website easy to use?

Comparing it with my Titan Treasure review I noticed how easy the site was to use, and I think Candy Coins has done a similar job. The theme and color all play into the candy style and I think they’ve done a good job of keeping the site modern and easy-to-use, but also making it fun and appealing. Pretty much everything you might need to access can be found in the left-hand menu, including the promos, game categories, and the Battle Arena.

They’ve also done a fine job with organizing the games - they are separated into categories, and there are also multiple search filters you can use including providers. Technically speaking, the site works great too - fast page speeds, no missing content, and the Battle Arena works smoothly - I was always able to get in a fight quickly, and there wasn’t any lag while I was playing it.

For mobile accessibility, I didn’t see any signs of a mobile app which is something that would work great, especially with the Battle Arena. However, there was a mobile responsive browser version of the site which I thought was a fine substitute. I tested it on my Android mobile and never had any issues.

What Candy Coins promotions did I unlock?

I’ve made a separate Candy Coins bonus guide, but I’ll at least go through the basics here so you have an idea of what you can get. Overall, I think they have a solid selection of promotions, but there doesn’t seem to be a mail-in bonus.

Unpacking the Candy Coins welcome bonus

When I registered an account with Candy Coins, I got 2 CC and 2 BP. Now, it was difficult to compare this to other sweepstakes casinos because of the lack of Gold Coins. For example, in my CrazyCoins Casino review I rated the bonus quite highly because of the GC you get. I guess, from a gameplay perspective, I did get OK playability from the CC and BP. BUT, I don’t think you’ll get as much entertainment as if you had a big chunk of GC.

There were also a couple of discounted Battle Pass packages that I was able to purchase too:

• $9.99 for 20 BP, and 20 bonus CC after the BP purchase
• $34.99 for 70 BP, and 70 bonus CC after the BP purchase

Both of these looked like pretty good value, and I did go for the $9.99 package - you’re basically getting a 100% bonus on the amount of virtual currencies from each package.

My verdict - Candy Coins offers a unique type of sweepstakes experience

It took a little bit of getting used to, but once I understood the premise and how the virtual currencies work, I really got into the PVP aspect of Candy Coins and the Battle Arena. It was cool playing the slot battles against other customers and I can certainly see the appeal. Add into that the decent collection of slots and live dealer games and you’ve got a solid entertainment setup.

The main thing to remember is the lack of GC though, so if you want to get the most out of this site, you will need to give the Battle Arena a try otherwise I think you might feel a little short-changed.
