Is Funzpoints Legal? Check the Full List of Legal States

Last Updated on Mar 28, 2025
Fact checked by: Ronnie Flores

There are plenty of Funzpoints legal states available, with 47 of them confirmed via the latest terms for the site. According to those, only residents of Idaho, Montana, and Michigan cannot access the service.

I’ve compiled a list of all the legal states here, and answered some of the common questions that players tend to ask about the available states for this social and sweepstakes casino, including VPN usage. Such sites are more widely available, but as you can see, there are still exceptions, so keep reading so learn about the legality of Funzpoints.

What is Funzpoints?

Before I get to where Funzpoints is legal, I should explain a little about the site format. This is not like your average online casino. Rather, it’s known as a social and sweepstakes casino. The idea is that you can play socially if you want to, using Standard Funzpoints for standard (social) mode. There’s also a premium mode using - you guessed it - Premium Funzpoints. Those are the social and sweepstakes aspects, respectively.

If you’re more familiar with Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins, here’s how they match up with what’s on offer at Funzpoints:

  • Standard Funzpoints - these are the same as Gold Coins
  • Premium Funzpoints - these are the same as Sweeps Coins

Determining the legality of a social and sweepstakes site can be tricky. It’s why there are similar guides here, like is Funz City legal? I’ve put together a table that contains all the states Funzpoints is currently available and legal in. I say ‘currently’ because there are times when the state list can change. I’ve seen this happen at other social and sweepstakes casinos, and if you check other online sources, you’ll find differences compared to this list. I can confirm, however, that the following is gleaned from the official Funzpoints website at the time of compiling this guide.

AlabamaAlaskaArizonaArkansasCalifornia
ColoradoConnecticutDelawareFloridaGeorgia
HawaiiIllinoisIndianaIowaKansas
KentuckyLouisianaMaineMarylandMassachusetts
MinnesotaMississippiMissouriNevadaNebraska
New HampshireNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth Carolina
North DakotaOhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvania
Rhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexas
UtahVermontVirginiaWest VirginiaWisconsin
WyomingWashington

Regardless of how good a site may look, the legal question is the most important one to answer to begin with. If your state isn’t in that table, you won’t be able to play there. You can then save time you might have spent looking at other aspects of the site. You can check similar information answering, is Jefebet legal, on that page here as well if you wish. It’s always sensible to compare a few sites to see which one might work best for you.

Yes, I have reviewed many online social and sweepstakes casinos and found anywhere up to around 12 or 13 excluded states at some of them. Here, there are currently only three:

  • Idaho
  • Michigan
  • Montana

If you know anything about these sites, you might notice that Washington hasn’t been excluded. This is a puzzler, honestly, since it is widely known that Washington does not allow sweepstakes. If you read other guides here - including one that asks, is Rolling Riches legal - you might check whether Washington appears there or not. Still, the site rules make no mention of Washington as a prohibited state. It’s something many people have noted since Funzpoints went live, and remains one of the reasons many Washingon residents go for this site.

I live in one of those three states - can I get around the rules and still play there?

Unfortunately, no. These are among the more difficult states to live in if you want to play at a social and sweepstakes casino. The regulations surrounding these sites change over time, and I’ve noticed a few states now exclude such gaming formats compared with their previous position. I can say that the guides here, including the page asking is Zula Casino legal, are checked and updated regularly to ensure they provide you with the latest insight to each site.

I can still visit and view Funzpoints even though I’m in a prohibited state - so can I join?

No - you must follow the terms of use displayed on the site. Even though some social and sweepstakes casinos are not able to be viewed from excluded states, this doesn’t apply to them all. Just because you can see the site, it doesn’t mean you can use it, unfortunately. I found I could view the landing page there from some locations, but could not access any of the other pages on the site, just as an example.

If you’re thinking about using a VPN - don’t

It would seem like a great way to get around the rules if you don’t live in one of the Funzpoints legal states, wouldn’t it? Some social and sweepstakes casinos now have software that detects whether you are using a VPN or not. However, that doesn’t currently seem to be true for Funzpoints. This would suggest that you could use it, but that is not the case.

According to the rules, you must be resident in one of the approved US states to be able to play there. You’ll need to verify your identity and residence if you manage to win enough Premium Funzpoints to redeem for a real prize. You can’t redeem these unless you win them, and you then need to win enough to be able to request a redemption.

This would obviously highlight the fact that you live in an excluded state, if you’re using a VPN and you live in Idaho, Michigan, or Montana. At that point, you would lose your account and your Premium Funzpoints, since you would not be entitled to a prize as per the sweepstakes rules. In short, don’t use a VPN as you’ll eventually get found out.

You can see that Funzpoints is available in more states than some competing social and sweepstakes casinos. However, you should consider and compare all the features on offer there with those at similar sites before you choose where to play. I’ve also noticed that there have been a few changes to the Funzpoints legal states over the years since Funzpoints launched, so it’s essential to keep up to date if you’re thinking of using the site. I’ll keep track of the above table to ensure it reflects the latest position.

No, only a few allow real money casino gambling. Many more welcome social and sweepstakes casinos though, which means those living in states that do not allow real money gambling can still play social casino-style games.

🎰 What are the advantages of playing at social casinos?
