Boogie Cousins Puts Up 41 & 23 During Emotional Return To Sacramento

Despite all of the locker room drama, the techs, the ejections and lack of team success during DeMarcus Cousins’ time in Sacramento, he’s known as the best center in franchise history and arguably one of the top three best players to ever put on a Kings jersey. And on Thursday, the 3 x NBA All-Star was treated to a standing ovation and a video tribute in his return to Sacramento. In response, he put up 41 points, 23 rebounds, 6 assists and knocked down clutch shots in the fourth to lead his Davis-less Pelicans to a 114-106 victory.

“It was beautiful, man,” Cousins said of the standing ovation. “A lot of people that know me knew I was nervous as hell. I’m thankful to have the years that I had in this city. The city and the fans were great to me, and I loved my time here. At the end of the day, it was nothing but love.”

Boogie left Sacramento as the franchise’s second leading scorer (behind the Rock, Mitch Richmond) and leading rebounder. He was also known for his charitable work and positive presence in the Sacramento community.
