C.J. McCollum has been putting up big numbers throughout the preseason and on Wednesday night, he put up the biggest numbers of his NBA career. C.J. outscored the Pelicans during a stretch in the first quarter and scored 28 of his career-high 37 in the first half.
“It feels good man, like a caged animal ready to be unleashed,” McCollum said. “The basket continues to get bigger and bigger and you continue to gain confidence.”
The unleashed beast also had 6 rebounds and made 6 of 9 3-pointers in 37 minutes.
“A great shooter,” New Orleans coach Alvin Gentry said. “So there’s not a whole lot you can do about it. He was in a rhythm.”
